Thursday Tubular Journey: Engelhard American Prospector Silver Rounds #2

I received a package yesterday which included my order of silver rounds that I've selected to share a tubular journey with you: Engelhard American Prospector Rounds.

1982 and 1982 Engelhard American Prospector

Silver Round, 1 ozt, .999 fine silver

Engelhard's The American Prospector Silver rounds were the first bullion rounds that were marketed by Engelhard to the public, adding a sense of historical value and collectibility to these silver rounds. 1982 was the first-year issue of the series. These rounds are no longer being minted.

Obverse: Image of a prospector panning for Gold, the words "U.S.A.", the year of issue and "The American Prospector."

Reverse: Engelhard “E” logo along with the weight and purity of the round.

This is the cigar Silver Box that houses the coin tube for these silver rounds. I will add these two Engelhard American Prospector Rounds to the tube!

The silver rounds need to be transfered from the flips to airtite capsules, then into the tube.

.... and the tube goes back into the cigar Silver Box for safekeeping.

We will revisit the cigar Silver Box again on the next edition of Thursday Tubular Journey.

These Engelhard silver rounds are keepers that will say in my perma-stack. The American Prospector design is iconic of America and the Gold Rush in particular... I read somewhere that the name "Gold Mountain" was initially applied to California. Ships full of immigrants docked in San Francisco to disembark passengers, initially bound for the goldfields of California. The 1925 California Commemorative coin depicts the Bear on the reverse which is so common in California and The American Prospector on the obverse. The design of the Engelhard Silver Round was based on the California Commemorative coin. I really love this silver round! Stay tuned for the next additions to the tube. My notsolocal LCS never seemed to have Engelhard rounds as they are much easier to sell than the 5 and 10 oz bars they do have. I think I know who's been scarfing them up.
I'm still at one EH round. Always with love, 🌺🤗💝🌹

It is amazing how slow and steady stacking and coin collecting allows us to preserve value in precious metals. It was a very short run... just a few years, so we know that it will become scarce! Me too... I look forward to the next addition to this tube! I can't wait to fill it up... it time it will be, for sure!

I believe times are changing in my town, the supply of good Silver and Gold are low at this time. I know the person that runs this LCS he's a good guy, but he doesn't own the shop. It's a different LCS from the one that I always bought from in the past that closed.

This shop only puts out poor quality common rounds and scratched up Silver Eagles at a high premium....On line we go!!😀

I've never really shared a tubular journey before and I am finding that this is truly fun and exciting just like the very first tubes I completed in the earlier years... it never gets old. Yet sharing an ounce by ounce addotion with friends is really very gratifying, and your comments are so encouraging! So unlike when you are doing it silently and in secret, hehehe. Not only is it more gratifying, it also encourages me to get out there and look for something new! I struck out at the LCS today, but am still looking. I may have to resort to buying online, but with all the extra work I did over the last 2 weeks, I'm taking some of that money and I'm going to stack it. Tons of hugs to you as well, my sweet sister!
