The Chinese Unicorn Series was a short-run issue of limited edition coins and sets released by the China Mint between the years of 1994 and 1997.
The unicorn is a horned mythical creature of good fortune, and on the coins both an eastern and western depiction are to be seen. In traditional Chinese culture the Qilin is a magical creature of good omen and a bringer of prosperity. It has the head of a dragon with the antlers of a deer, the scales of a fish, the hooves of an ox and the tail of a lion. "

I am a bit torn apart with this one...I like the eastern unicorn but the western unicorn is a bit too "girly" for me.
The low mintage, the quality (Premium Uncirculated) and the fact that the Shanghai mint has a hit on their hands at the moment with the "Dragon Dollar" made me still pick up some in the hope I can trade them down the road, despite the premium.
That is my first coin I picked up just for speculation that the price will appricate and actually have little interest owning it.
I'm not going to buy any of these...

You know what would be really interesting at least for me would be a post about how the collector scene/market changed through the years.
I have the feeling many new people come in but what I read is that the market getting smaller

How long have you been collecting coins?
I started in 2014 (moving cash to gold investments due to low interest rates ) so any older coin of before 2014 I bought after 2014.
Striking it with perfection great to look at these special coins
