I went to Rosenborg castle in Copenhagen and came across this interesting artifact.. obviously it’s not a holy hand grenade but I was confused as to what it is. Any thoughts?

It's called the Globus Cruciger also known as the Orb and the Cross. It is a Christian symbol of authority used on sceptres, tiaras, as royal regalia. It's been used on coins and iconography. It's stunning!
