The Hanging Boards and The Auditorium in Chiljangsa Temple, Anseong City

(Edited)

The auditorium was built at the right side of the pavilion for the bell. It looked older than the pavilion for the bell.

Unlike its authoritative appearance looked from outside, it was so friendly due to its color made by the flow of time. It looked that this architecture was used not so often. The dust on the floor was not cleaned for a time being.

I looked inside of the auditorium, there were several hanging boards on the wall.

The board caught my eyes was the front hangingboard on which the name of the auditorium was carved. 'Saving people hall'

\

I photographed some of the hanging board on which the names were written. It seemed that those hanging boards were had been made at least more than a hundred years ago. They made those board for the memory of them. But no one remembers those name nowadays. As time passing, everything is disappearing.

The wood of auditorium looks natural without paint on it. That is something I like, natural appearance, normally wood becomes darker with time. The memory boards are good idea but unfortunately there is nothing much left, I was wondering if there would be a possibility if the people would restore them and re-create the writings?

An interesting post, @slowwalker

Did you consider it might have been an old Christian church and the names were the church members who found salvation by being baptized there?

The dust on the floorboards is poignant and you rightly surmise that the mere endurance of the names alone doesn't confer immortality, but perhaps they found it in their faith.

Have a good day, my friend.
