If SCOT’s and SMT’s are interopeable, can we call them SCOT-MTs’?

The launch of Steem-Engine and its following developments, brought about an inegligible amount of attention and discord(noun) among users as some saw SCOTs as Steems saving grace while others saw it as a scheme to sink the entire Steem ship. SCOT simply tapped into the functionalities of the SMT's whitepaper to become what it is today - a sidechain as many will call it - much earlier than Steemit could deploy the SMT's themselves, hence the discord.

SCOT's VS SMT's

Basically SCOTS began to do what SMT's were supposed to do. To be honest what crossed my mind waswhat the fucking hell is going on? Is SCOT supposed to render SMT's useless? Will they be direct competitors? Not long after, Steem-Engine deployed another update, Stake mining, boom, still no sight of SMT's. I guess this was when the hostile sentiments began to form around users.

Only for Steemit to announce that SMT's was the next due task with no regards to what Steem-engine had achieved so far! Whaat? All hell broke loose, Steem-engine is this, Steem-engine is that, for the first time, Steem-Engine experienced its first major FUD (The price didn't flinch though..hehe, boss). Followed by bashing and fake shammans that made forecasts that steem was going to fail two years ago, they now saw something else to fake forecast on, outlining out dated reasoning's and techniques as to why the project is doomed to fail.

Steem-Engine is a here to stay

There is not one place on Steemit at this moment where the direct use case, peculiarity, intrinsic differences and implication of using which Token Protocol is publicly stated in a comprehensive manner. But they exist in bits and fragments if one can swim well in this Steem ocean. If you want a open and less bias opinion about the advantages of SCOT, Click 1, if you want an open and little bias post on advantages of SMTs', Click 2.

Steem-Engine is a layer two solution which gives it a lot more flexibility. The tokens can appeal to those who are not tied to the Proof of Brain concept. We also can see, at the present moment, updates happen a lot quicker. There are no Witnesses required to vote on code changes. They simply can be implemented as the team sees fit.

As long as there is no mechanism to distribute the responsibilities and remove the need to trust anyone without steem engine being able to influence that, this won't change. If it would change, they would lose their business model.

Kindly ensure to click at least one before reading further.

After you must have gone through at least one, you'd see that there's a reason for the attention, which led to the discord, and there's a need to recognize where each stand. While that may not be totally possible due to the fact they are both being developed everyday revealing new capabilities as the blockchain itself, however I can add my little quota to the body of knowledge as a result of my own research and understanding.

Both are winners

While a lot of people see differences, I see ways to collaborate. Both protocols are winners, if you studied both perspectives objectively, it's not hard to tell the obvious advantages of SMT's over SCOT's for example, SMT's have better security as they are built into the blockchain. But also we can see that SCOTs lists tokens for free and charge you for creation and management, while SMT have to pay for listing(I guess). SCOT's are more flexible than SMT's and SCOT's are already live and trading, SMT's are not.

At the end of the day, SCOT's will survive alongside SMT's, both will thrive. However, SCOTs are better positioned right now as a result of the Steem Engine dex. In a very short while, it's been able to lockdown hundreds of thousands of Steem, with new progressive developments almost every week, there's something called first mover advantange, and as much as people will want to argue, nothing is going to change the fact that Steem-Engine has that.

The only major deal breaker for Steem Engine now is that it's not totally a decentralized system as a result of the lot of work still been done on it, but the word is that it aims to reach a high level of decentralization as SMT's.

These are only speculations eventually, analyzing each use case over the other will be much easier when both are live. If we look at Ethereum and the ERC20, ERC721 token economy, it's like a big marketplace of interoperable tokens. If Steemit creates a dex for SMT's, then Steem-Engine will be that general market place for trading SCOT's and SMT's alike. As we know that Steem-engine also trades EOS tokens and now Bitshares tokens as well. It will be awesome to see the kind of hybrid Steem-engine will become in few years. I remain super bullish on steem and it's capabilities.

People dumping on steem now, only makes it cheaper for others to get, and looking at what is going on in steem engine and how much steem people are buying to get their communities set-up, there's definately no need for a soothe sayer to tell you Steem is now more marketable than ever. To reap the full benefits of these communities, one needs to purchase a nice amount of it stake, meaning more buying of steem, and trust me these communities are not playing.

The launch of SMT's will lead to more avenue for purchasing steem and eventually the Bull we've all been waiting for will run, now watch steem at that point, because that is when things will get really really interesting. It might look like a tough ride right now, but I have a feeling things will fall in place as we continue to play our parts.

Together we stand....Thanks for reading
