Thoughts on Spinvest-Leo

avatar

Hello to all our delegators and Spinvest supporters.

I just wanted to put up a quick post calling for a few ideas and suggestions. The thing is that the rise in value of the LEO token we are working with has been fantastic. However it has disguised a small issue with the @spinvest-leo account. The account has been growing each week in "Steem value" thanks to the rising prices. The problem is that we are spending all the tokens we earn to buy the mining payout.

I would love some suggestions. When any venture has a cash flow problem, there are usually 2 options: Reduce expenses or increase income.

Reduce Expenses:

The long story, shortened here is that when I set the new mining payout rate and changed to weekly payouts, I got a bit too excited and aimed too high. I basically found the spot where all our income gets sold to buy the rewards. This wasn't the original plan, then idea was some decent rewards, but a profit each week to grow the asset base. The main option to reduce expenses (the number of tokens we need to sell to buy SPI to pay delegators) is to reduce the payout rate.

I don't think this will be a popular choice!

The other option I was working on was to buy some NEOXAG tokens and delegate to the Neo account, to earn SPI and reduce over time how much I have to sell. I still see merit in this plan, but it is very long term in nature and doesn't help the week to week situation. For the next few weeks, I won't pursue buying any more NEOXAG, but I'd like to keep this option on the table down the track.

Increase Income.

This is where we should focus our attention, I think. Curation is being pushed fairly hard, with voting power never really climbing over 80-90%. Possibly, it could be argued that it's being pushed too hard, but I'm not sure. I don't want to really change much of our curation strategy.

Posting more is an obvious method. Increasing the frequency of posts will bring more tokens in, and ease the pressure on the account. It does, however, require effort, and time that I have only in limited supply. Plus, what do you all want me to write about?

If anyone has any thoughts, comments or ideas, please share in the comments section below.

Thanks to everyone supporting this program, especially the delegators:

@jk6276.leo, @shanibeer, @bucipuci, @oldmans, @preparedwombat, @underground, @silverstackeruk, @tbnfl4sun, @qam2112, @melinda010100, @no-advice, @welshstacker, @crypticat, @ronaldoavelino, @conradsuperb, @sames, @metzli, @davedickeyyall, @mytechtrail, @elbrava, @lammbock, @ecoinstant, @silvertop, @elizabethbit, @banjocat, @cochiti, @coreyb, @cottonlion, @wapitielk, @steemitcuration, @fleur, @yonnathang, @dera123.

New delegations, or increased delegations always welcomed. You can delegate any amount, however 10 LEO would be the minimum to receive a weekly payout. If these are you first SPI tokens, feel free to ask any questions and check out @spinvest for more information.

Supporting the following accounts will support the Spinvest tokens growth:

@spinvest - the main account.
@spinvest-leo - this account.
@spinvest-votes - separate account to coordinate club member votes on a regular basis.
@spinvest-neo - new account for NEOXAG delegations.
Cheers,

JK - aka @jk6276, @jk6276.leo and other similarly named accounts :)

Okay, we've had good returns because the leo price has increased (is that right)?
But I'm guessing the leo price can also fall and/or be volatile.
Is it possible to make a judgement about a reasonable "low" price for leo?
If so, my suggestion is that we take that price point as the base for the @spinvest-leo account and calculate some different things:

  • building a cushion for the @spinvest-leo account so that it can accommodate ups and downs and still continue to progress forward.
  • set some targets for growth.
  • calculate what dividends (in this case SPI tokens) can be paid when.
I see no problem about reducing payouts - @spinvest hadn't grown enough to make one of the dividend payouts and members voted to wait until the fund had grown to the size where it could sustain a payout.
The purpose of @spinvest is to get rich slowly ... we need to choose the path that leads to that.
I'm loath to support proposals that require more work, because I'm not sure that's sustainable either.

The value of the assets has been increasing. However, we are pretty much selling alk the LEO we earn to pay mining payouts. The safety buffer has been the transfer from @spinvest each week.

Boss man Spinny is hoping to get to a point where I don't need that transfer anymore.

Maybe I need to put a freeze on new delegations for a few weeks and get the balance right?

Thanks for opening the conversation, I'll look at some more numbers tomorrow.

Hey, just jump to in. We should not need to freeze anything. If we get a few more posts on the go and be consistent, we'll earn more Leo's.

Excellent post man. I'll throw something together but you could do a weekly charts post and just convert the figures on the excel into a chart. It would be an post, few lines of chat chit and the charts speak for themselves.

I'll have to brush up on my chart skills, haven't made one since uni days 20 years ago... 🤯

This weeks income is shaping up well, should end up positive for leo earnings. I tweaked a a couple of things and last week and that change is starting to benefit now.

Thanks mate.

We must think with our head, not our heart. We wish @spinvest-leo to go to the moon, but if we spend our profits paying dividends, our heart will never be pleased.
You suggested more posts. If possible, it is OK.
Reducing the dividends should be the fastest action possible, with immediate results. It is OK to me.
Your curation strategy is perfect to me. 80-90% voting power is enough.
How about a small campaing about all our delegators/supporters upvote @steem-leo posts, either with steems or their specific alt-accounts (leo and neo).
I will start it now with @bruleo and @bruneo (my alt-accounts).

Great feedback, thank you. Part of me is happy with how things are, it is good for my heart, as you say, to be helping people build their overall SPI holdings with generous payouts.

Gathering more support for the posts will help, every LEO, NEOXAG, and STEEM is so helpful.

I'll work on the income side first, and review payout rate in a few weeks.

Thanks for your continued support.

I for one am okay with a reduced payout rate. Most of us joined this enterprise for slow and steady anyway. :)

Not sure how much it's worth but update my auto votes for all spinvest ventures to 100%.

Thanks for the votes every little bit counts.

I'll keep the payout reduction on ice for now, work on the income side first.

Thanks for your continued support.

I just increased my delegation 2.571 Leo
I staked this to @spinvest-leo first accidentally, incorrectly.....
Is there any way to correct this to delegation??
Thanks!

You will have to undelegate, and wait until it returns to you. Sorry, wish I had a better answer for you. I have raised the issue on the steem engine discord, but I think they missed my comment.

I never delegated the 2.571 Leo, I guess I just gave it to @spinvest-leo Lol😀..I staked it to you....
If you can't do anything that's OK... I was just thinking maybe you could send it back to me and I could delegate it right back correctly this time.
Sorry about all this I have been flip flopping between Steem-engine and the Leo DEX and I messed up!🙃
Have a good day, thank you for what you are doing!😀

That one I can help. I'll send you the amount you staked, so you can stake it correctly and then delegate.

On its way now.

I've written it somewhere. A maximum of 30% of the earnings should be paid for dividends. A reasonable investor should agree to reduce payouts and increase investment.

I'll be working towards a 30 to 50% target long term. First by boosting income, and see where that gets us. I'll review payout rates in detail in a few weeks.

I always appreciate your input.

Do a couple of more posts a week would be my suggestion. I appreciate it's more work for you and we all appreciate you doing it for us. Price of Leo could easily go the other way fast. Lets keep the rate the same 👍
