Phew... Dodged a bullet!
I am often making low (usually around spot price) bids on silver on eBay to try and snag a lucky buy. Most of the time I'm completely out bid, but that's no problem!
I'm pretty careful with the bids and what I bid on... But the other day, I was a little bit tired (lesson learnt, don't be ebaying when you are tired!) and put in a place holder bid of about 20 euros. I usually do these place holder bids just to keep track of items I am interested in, so they appear in my bidding queue. Sometimes, I just put in a tiny bid just to see where the bidding ends up.
Anyway, it was lucky that I hadn't placed a proper bid for these 10 Kookaburra coins. When I put the place holder bid, I had thought that they were silver... But they are actually silver plated (cunningly hidden in open sight on the description!).
Thankfully, someone ended up outbidding me, but I was really surprised by how much someone ended paying for interesting souvenirs with no real metal content!

I've seen too many cases like this. Unless it's furniture, silver plated doesn't mean much in terms of value. Unless its cooking utensils, it doesn't mean much in terms of purpose.

Yep... although as a parent... that would often mean doing nothing!
Technically speaking, you should not be doing anything when you're tired...most if not all of the times you'll end up doing something really silly. Even if you know that it is not pure metal, you might still end up bidding it just because your brain misfired due to tiredness...
So, sleep...haha..
Yeah I know... but as a parent, I appear to be perpetually tired! Although, there are moments when it is worse than others...

I have no idea... I thought that they must be copies, but they look decent enough... but I'm not enough of an expert to know... does Perth Mint sell silver plated coins?
