7000 Posts Special - My Ideas On What to Change In Code + Ways To Support me in Journey to 14 000

Another milestone on STEEMIT passed. Took me 4 years (almost, anniversary in may) but i got now nice stats of 30000+ followers, 7000+ posts and reputation of 80.

Since over those years community (loads of old people quit, new people came), code (many forks) and many other things changed here this time i will keep the post with just 2 sections.

@@@ What i think could be changed on next fork @@@

By no means i claim those are best ideas but i have seen many blockchains and been here since start active. I just want the community and mostly witnesses to think or speak about those which i find interesting. I will give some of my reasoing for them but i may not be aware or other associations those make or reasoning why its not a good idea.

Witness Votes Should Auto Expire

You only want to have active STEEM users to vote, yet right now a vote once set is lifetime. This way new witnesses or backup witnesses have pretty much no chance to get into top20. Also the top5-10 doesnt change much. If votes were expiring there would always be a timeframe or hours or days that the big voter forgets to check his list and there is big toss up allowing smaller witnesses also show their skills. This would also make sure people who vote on witnesses do check the list not just do it blindly.

Proxies should stay as if proxy gets inactive you can unproxy it. There is more people with any STEEM than skilled to vote and chose witnesses.

The expirey time frame? Maybe a month? That im not sure. But the expiry should be hard coded, that there is a moment after exactly X time you autounvote the witness u voted on X time ago.

Delegation Auto Expire

This is also about only active people having the talk on the rewards this time of everyone not just witnesses. If person sets a delegation and dies, quits, looses keys. Then his stake still works taking rewards from the pool despite guy may be long gone. If there was expiry then at some point we would have loads of abandoned coins holding SP but not using it. Then active users would have bigger pool to share and more SP would be locked looking good. Also then we could easier see actually active accounts.

This time expiry (due to long time re-delegating) should have like 48h timeframe that you can click button and re-delegate the person for another time frame. Delegation id set at 2 months with of course option to undelegate when you want (like now).

@@@ Support me in 2020 @@@

If you like what im doing you can support me in 2020 in a few ways. There are many portals allowing to vote with a trail or autovote but since i try to promote here many things, this time i will suggest everyone https://steemauto.com which i started using just lately.

Vote with my trail

image.png

If you like what im curating and my posts you can follow my votes with your votes just go here - https://steemauto.com/dash.php?trail=kingscrown&i=1 and set options. I suggest a minimum of 50 vote power and threshold of 70. So far just few people there as i have just started so the sooner you get then better.

Be my fan

image.png

If you only want to vote on my posts but dont follow me and others voting then a fan option is for you.
https://steemauto.com/dash.php?fan=kingscrown&i=2
I suggest to set at 5-10th minute, power as you wish, day limit i suggest 2. I often do 2 posts but ie yesterday i did none.

Let me be your proxy voter

So let me remind You guys of how STEEM works since many can be new here from this glorious number.

There are two types of votes - for posts/content and for witnesses.

Witnesses are the guys who make STEEM going. The host nodes, move transactions and secure the network.

While each person chooses what posts to vote on, there is a built in option to let someone else (ie more experienced) to vote for witnesses for you - called a proxy.

If you trust i know what I'm doing let me be your proxy for witness voting. It costs you nothing, it has nothing to do with using your SteemPower or posts. Its other type of vote.

Im already a proxy for a few people - if you follow me, consider to add me as proxy - its very simple.

Add kingscrown as a proxy in few easy steps:

Remember use PROXY not direct witness voting

I have to give you credit. You have been a consistent contributor to Steem for a long time. You stuck it out even in the worst of times. My hat off to you! I am feeling optimistic again, and I think we will start to see a big increase in users both new and old. Exciting times ahead. Nice price action today in Steem and SBD!

PS. It looks like COMMENTS are counted as posts as it would be impossible for me to write 7k in 3-4 years. This can addd as another thing to fix on the HF among those ive shared here already.

Auto expiry sounds like an interesting idea.

Hey retard. How about you stop logging onto aizensou's account to downvote my comments with? If you're really going to be that petty over me calling out your garbage low effort posts and ways you attempt to maximize rewards at all costs I have no problem countering your idiotic downvotes.

Downvoted for buying votes and plenty of other reasons.

Every democratic system requires seasonal voting. It keeps things moving and allows for some innovation to be brought to the table. Thus auto expiring delegation and witness votes is a good thing.

Maybe I would add that time frame should not be fixed, but rather give a maximum. An because everyone always forgets to vote, we need a reminder system of when our votes and delegations are going to expire.

Dear @kingscrown

You only want to have active STEEM users to vote, yet right now a vote once set is lifetime.

Why not to consider those users, who invested in STEEM and are holding to their STEEM. Many users are not active but they delegated their SP to others.

Those users should not be punished with their witness vote being removed. Don't get me wrong - I understand your good intention and I see where're you coming from. But your solution is solving some problems and creating new ones.

Delegation Auto Expire

I'm sorry, but I'm absolutely against. This is insane idea. To force people to visit Steem blockchain every now and then and pretend to be active - or be "punished". I wish to see it the way you do - but I simply don't.

Thank you for sharing link to your post. Upvote on the way.
Yours, Piotr

This has been discussed a fair bit among witnesses and other key stakeholders for years. I’ve personally been in favour of what we’ve called “decaying witness votes”, aka votes that run out after a certain time (I suggest 6 months).

A common rebuttal to this argument is often that many would simply automate re-voting those that they’ve voted on in order to not have to constantly renew their votes. (This would be very easy in the form of a third party service that would allow people to cast their votes once and then sign a new vote for the same witness as soon as the vote runs out).

As for people dying or going inactive, we’ve proposed that there should be an option for the community to “challenge” the votes cast of an inactive user. This would result in that particular account having a given time period (maybe 1 week or even 1 month) to confirm their activity. Otherwise, their votes/delegations will be set to none until they later log in to reassign their votes and delegations.

I think something like that would make sense as a way to not be forever bound by the old votes of highly inactive users. That said, I think it is more sensible to start by questioning active stakeholders who seem completely “inactive” (or careless) with how they vote and delegate. For instance, we’ve got the biggest fork yet to happen on Steem coming up (SMTs), yet we are the only witness that have carried out any meaningful tests of it on the testnet during the 4 months it has been up. Is that something that matters at all to stakeholders or voters with delegations/proxies? Do they pay active attention to what is being done, or set clear expectations from those they vote on or delegate to? I mean, we have people in the top 20 that haven’t been active at all for the past year, aside from showing up during the fork. Is that ok? I honestly don’t know (although I believe it shouldn’t be), since people are not publicly stating their expectations and reasons to vote/delegate.

Or what do you think? Do you take the time to look into witnesses activities on a regular basis and update your votes accordingly?
