Requesting some help by fellow Steemians that have more comprehension than me on Voting Power, Upvote Worth and good practices on voting/ commenting

Dear friends!

This post is some kind of a reach out for help regarding the Steemit platform and how I can be more valuable and profitable in here.

My questions are about Voting Power, Upvote worth, good practices on voting/ commenting and how not to be annoying.

swirling-head-cat.jpg

From what I have already read and watched on explanatory videos, articles and the FAQs of steemit, the way to increase one's Voting Power is either by Powering Up, using author/ curators' earnings, or investing money and then Powering Up.

The best ones that I have found until now are:

(an older one)

and

(the most recent)

But I still have questions about other things on which I have found contradictory answers, and what's more they are all from at least two years before. Nothing recent that I could find.

First of all, is voting regularly (in a sensible spreading votes manner, not all at once and not over 10 votes per day) good or bad for my Upvote Worth (this is not a question about voting power, but the worth of the vote)? I have read both answers (sorry, I could not find today these posts amongst the chaos of the many I have read, but as soon as I do I will post them in the comments).

What about comments?

Also, at this time and for at least the last three months, my Upvote worth is stubbornly stuck in $0.00.

  1. How can this be changed?

  2. Despite that, I keep upvoting content that I really like. I would like to know if this annoys any of you people as it is just an empty like when it comes to reward. One of the reasons that I would like to find a way to figure all this out as quickly as possible is because I would really like to give value to what I find valuable.

Of course I would like to be profitable myself too, but I understand (and actually like) the fact that in this platform the committed ones over time get to be rewarded and it is not just a bubble. But staying stuck for this long, and more importantly not knowing if it is normal or if it is my fault/ I am doing something totally wrong, got me to decide to write this post and ask for your help.

I know that I should study very thoroughly the white paper and the FAQs and everything that I can get my hands (or keyboard and mouse) onto, and of course I will continue doing so (there are so so many more subjects on Steemit that I would like to know thoroughly apart from these ones), but sometimes I am feeling like losing my mind and I could really use some help if some of you have better understanding of all this.

Thank you in advance and wishing the best for all of you!

Voting on "good content" that you actually appreciate is a great habit -even if your vote (and ours ) is a big fat $0.00. While we don't see massive revenue coming into our wallet, we do see a steady supply of residual points added to our account wallet each week. Until Steam rebounds back to the $3 or $4 mark, everyone's vote is pretty much stuck in limbo or the infamous $0. For ourselves, we have pushed hard to get our Steem power to the 200 mark. Not that it does anything for our vote value, but eh... it's there. I guess. We got there without spending our real-world $$. We searched for contests here on Steem that rewarded SBD or Steem power. We then used those awards to power up. Coinbase https://www.coinbase.com often hosts giveaways for various new crypto coins. Using those free giveaways and then converting them to Steem to power up has helped push our account up. It has also helped us to develop a portfolio of crypto currencies. Sort of like a stock exchange portfolio I guess. It is a little bit of work, over a looooooong period of time. But it's a hobby, and it is growing. Slowly. In the mean time, keep at it!

Thank you so much @tillysfamilyfarm ! This is exactly the kind of information and insight I could never possibly find in articles and guides! I have absolutely no problem waiting and working on it, my worry was if I was doing something the wrong way. I will check on everything you mentioned, thanks again a million times! 🙂

This is a good question and I have been wondering about that in the past
The truth is that now with #newsteem, I am not really sure how it works
Your vote worth will change if steem price goes up or/and your Steem Power increases
If I find out any good piece of info, I will come your way :)

Thank you very much @katerinaramm ! It is indeed confusing, but piece by piece I am starting to make some sense!

I have found some interesting recent articles about the changes of the latest Hard Fork (21) and some comentary on them, I am leaving them here and will come back if I find more!

The general idea that I get from these are that:

  • Curators now have more earnings than before (50% instead of 25% that they used to) and that they are motivated to prefer manual curation instead of using bots

  • Curating small earning authors is not very profitable or good for your voting weight (something on the words of linear curve rewards) but there are tribes being created that help their members. [ My head is boiling after reading these! 🤯]

  • There is a downvoting pool for everyone now (replacing the flags) with daily mana, in order to motivate us downvoting bad quality posts that take from the pool rewards away from those with good quality. (I am not seeing myself using this one though)

  • A good way to increase one's Voting Power and Weight is as always bying Steem and converting it to Steem Power. Maybe now is a better time to do so, as Steem is worth less than it used to, so it is cheaper to do so before it rises again. What's more we are motivated to do so, because this will help the community and the rewards pool.

  • Some say that it is good for the community and the pool to promote our posts and some other say that it's bad. I have not concluded on this yet. I will search the articles again in my history and share them because my Session Buddy addon is a mess right now (I must have at least 80 sessions with the prefix Steemit ! 😹)

I certainly have a loads more to research, but the general understanding is this. My own way of going is still trying to create good content (because I love it), get in touch with other people with good vibes here and even make friendships worldwide on the long run, voting what I like even before I get my voting weight on a good level and as soon as I have some more time exlore the chat rooms, which I have never done!
