Amo 9:11 In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen, and close up the breaches thereof; and I will raise up his ruins, and I will build it as in the days of old:

Amo 9:12 That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my name, saith the LORD that doeth this.
Amo 9:13 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the plowman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed; and the mountains shall drop sweet wine, and all the hills shall melt.

Amos was a shepherd and was called by God to be a prophet while tending his sheep. Jesus is know as the Great Shepherd and His followers are His sheep. Amos had so many very hard things to prophesy to Israel. Even though Jesus is know to be meek and mild, He also had some of the most scathing words to the people of His day, especially the religious leaders. I believe if Jesus was walking on the earth today, His message would also be of rebuke to much that many do in His Name.

Today I chose for my text a verse that is also quoted in the book of Acts. “The Tabernacle of David”. God said in this prophecy that He would rebuild this tabernacle because it has fallen down. Some reason God has a special love or desire for this particular tabernacle to be rebuilt, even above the tabernacle that Moses built.

Here is the verse quoted in the book of Acts

Act 15:14 Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
Act 15:15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
Act 15:16 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Act 15:17 That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.

You see before Jesus, God’s people were the Jews, the descendants of Jacob (Israel). He was always known as the God of Abraham, Jacob and Isaac.

WE SEE IN THIS PROPHECY THAT GOD’S DESIRE WAS FOR THE GENTILES ALSO.

Peter witnessed this when God poured out His Spirit on the household of Cornelius a Roman soldier of the Italian band.

Act 10:44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
Act 10:45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Act 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
Act 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

The tabernacle of David was just a few poles and a tarp over top. David had appointed worshippers 24/7 to worship Yahweh. This tabernacle housed the Ark of the Covenant that David just brought back to Jerusalem. Between the Cherubim on the lid of the Ark you could see the glory of God above the Mercy Seat. Any person from the least to the great could gaze upon this glory. The visitor or alien could see this wonder with the naked human eye. You could look as long as you wanted and as frequently as you desired, you could come and gaze again regardless of who you were.

We always heard of God’s love for the descendants of Jacob (Israel)

Only from Jesus do we hear this inclusive and famous Words

Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
