Happy Father's Day!

Today, fathers are been celebrated all over the world to mark the father's day. Truly, fathers need to be celebrated because they play a major role in the family. I am amongst the lucky ones who happen to still enjoy the benefits of having a decent father and I must say, I appreciate every moment I have spent with my dad. The roles he has played in my life and all the sacrifices he has made for my siblings and I. As an adult, I know it has never been easy for him to place the needs of his children before anything else.

Frankly, it is easy for any man to deposit his sperm for a child to be born, but not every man qualifies as a father because it comes with a lot of responsibilities. Some are not even willing to try. Secondly, it takes a lot of display of care and affection for a child to be able to call someone a dad. Many men out there are not ready and willing to take up this responsibility which is why any decent man can actually play a fatherly role to someone who isn't blood-related.

Being called a father by someone takes a lot. There must be some sort of connection, conviction, and deep for a kid to genuinely and comfortably regard a man as a father because the kid will definitely be the one to rate and decide if the man truly deserves to be seen as a father. On the other hand, the man feels so loved and happy. So, fatherhood is a thing of joy with many responsibilities yet enjoyable. Nowadays, kids look up to their dad as role models. They study whatever he does and act almost accordingly. Fathers are like a handbook for their kids! I can't even quantify the things I have learned from my dad, his wise words, wisdom, and amazing character display.

Now, these are some of the great attributes of our earthly father. If we want to narrow it down to our heavenly father, the list is endless. God has been a great Father to all those who look up to Him for love, care, and direction. He never gets mad even when we have wronged Him in so many ways. He has always been there for us and never stopped loving us. Recently, I watched a Christian movie titled "FIREPROOF" where a married man was ranting to his dad how his wife never appreciates Him. He went on to list all the things his wife did to him so he wanted a divorce. After his rant, his dad went to the crucifix of Christ and stood there. And said to his son "you have done all of these to God yet He loves you regardless of all your wrongs, hatred, and stubbornness". The man became sober and wept bitterly for neglecting God's love upon his life.

Yes, today is father's day. We are celebrating all the amazing Dads in the world. We want to let them know how much we appreciate all they have done and will still do, but let us also take a moment to appreciate our heavenly Father for He has been super awesome. Personally, I cannot thank Him enough for everything He has done for me. Father LORD, I am thankful for my answered prayers and all the love you have shown to me. And thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross. I am thankful for my Salvation! I appreciate You, Lord. Thank you for being a good Father!
