Steem Basic Income

Steem Basic Income is a social experiment to bring a basic income to as many Steemians as possible. Members join by sponsoring others into the program. Steem Basic Income is delivered through providing regular upvotes to member content.

One of my top priorities in the last few months has been to simplify the onboarding into Steem Basic Income - to make coming to an understanding of what it is and how it works a lot easier. Value Balances and Upvote Delivery

One of the most confusing things for new members is our upvote delivery system. Since most things on Steem operate on a daily or per-post basis, our system of storing balance and then delivering 'on demand' when a minimum level is reached is counter-intuitive. This article includes a good overview including great visual infographics.

Transaction Memo Guidelines

Refund Policy

We updated our Refund Policy shortly after our automation release. Deliberately restrictive to protect sustainability and the subscription promotion service characteristics of our delivery method, it's critical information for anybody considering a substantial enrollment level.

Sustainability

Finally, each SBI unit is effectively backed by some level of SP (between 1 and 2 SP). The exact level is a function of our sustainability multiplier, which makes understanding our sustainability metrics pretty important to a full understanding of expected returns, along with how we would adapt to protocol-level changes.

You have only 1 unit subscription level. With the low STEEM price, 1 unit is only enough to support an upvote every few weeks.

4 units would get you up to once per week and 28 units would be enough for a daily upvote. We usually recommend a subscription of at least 40 units.

This post is two years old, and refers to Steem rather than Hive. Is all of this still valid today?

And, if I understand correctly, I need to sponsor other members in order to become a member? That is a little confusing, but I think I get it? Where does the sponsorship go, then, exactly?

Each enrollment transaction creates dedicated support for two accounts: the sponsored account, and the enrolling account.
In effect, it's an account-based curation system. The sponsorship goes to support the account that you sponsor, and the support for your own account is paid for by the curation rewards we earn from supporting the account you sponsor.

Really cool project that someone sponsored me into and i intern sponsored others. Is it possible to see a tranaction list of who sponsored and who withdrew and the same for my sponsorship? As well as the payout over time?
