The Aegis of Champions - for this trophy, and a small expense allowance, fight the best Dota 2 players in the world since August 15 in Shanghai. In today's Grand Final OG managed to defend the title against Team Liquid for the first time. ana, Topson, 7ckingMad, JerAx and N0tail beat the team around KuroKy in 4 rounds.

The first round went, in a quite balanced duel, to Team Liquid, the following 3 rounds OG was able to make very convincing for itself. You can see a summary of the rounds in the following video.

Aufwandsentschädigung, kämpfen die besten Dota 2 Spieler der Welt seit
dem 15. August in Shanghai. Im heutigen Grand Final schaffte es OG
erstmals den Titel gegen Team Liquid zu verteidigen. ana, Topson,
7ckingMad, JerAx und N0tail setzen sich in 4 Runden gegen das Team um KuroKy durch.

Die erste Runde ging, in einem recht ausgeglichenen Duell, an Team
Liquid, die folgenden 3 Runden konnte OG sehr überzeugend für sich

Once again Topson could convince with great killstreaks and was elected MVP of the Grand Finals. Overall OG convinced throughout the whole tournament. Team Liquid had some problems in the group phase and had to fight their way through the lower bracket to the final. This forced them to play PSG LGD this morning, before the Grand Final, to secure their place against OG. Whether they would have managed to be the first team in the world to hold the Aegis twice without this double burden is questionable given OG's current strength.

So OG was the first team ever to defend the title directly and to become TI Champion twice. The European team can now take home 15.6 million dollars. I assume that the defeat of Team Liquid by winning $4.5 million will be a little more bearable. A total of over $34 million in prize money was played out at The International 9, a new record for e-sports events. It's interesting to note that organizer Valve only throws 1.6 million into the pot, the rest comes together through the purchase of the optional Battlepass to TI and is paid by the fans.

I have to say that this year's International was again a great experience, but I also have to say that I am looking forward to some more sleep in the next few days. This morning it started at 4am and I went through the same last days a few times. This will probably be more pleasant at the TI 10 next year, which will take place in Stockholm.

Erneut konnte Topson durch großartige Killstreaks überzeugen und wurde
zum MVP des Grand Finals gewählt. Insgesamt überzeugte OG über das
ganze Turnier hinweg. Team Liquid hatte in der Gruppenphase ein paar
Probleme und musste sich durch das Lower Bracket ins Finale kämpfen.
Dadurch waren sie gezwungen sich am heutigen Morgen, noch vor dem
Grand Final, gegen PSG LGD durchsetzen zu müssen, um ihren Platz gegen
OG zu sichern. Ob sie es ohne diese Doppelbelastung geschafft hätten,
als erstes Team weltweit zweimal den Aegis in Händen zu halten, halte
ich angesichts der momentanen Stärke von OG jedoch für fraglich.

Somit gelang es OG als erstes Team überhaupt, den Titel sogar direkt
zu verteidigen und zweimal TI Champion zu werden. Das Europäische Team
darf nun 15,6 Millionen Dollar mit nach Hause nehmen. Ich gehe davon
aus, dass die Niederlage von Team Liquid durch die gewonnenen 4,5
Millionen $ ein klein wenig erträglicher sein wird. Insgesamt wurden
bei der The International 9 über 34 Millionen Dollar an Preisgeld
ausgespielt, ein neuer Rekord. Interessant ist, dass Veranstalter
Valve nur 1,6 Millionen in den Topf schmeißt, der Rest kommt durch den
Erwerb des optionalen Battlepasses zur TI zusammen und wird von den
Fans bezahlt.

Ich muss sagen, dass die diesjährige International wieder ein tolles
Erlebnis war, muss aber auch feststellen, dass ich mich die nächsten
Tage auf etwas mehr Schlaf freue. Heute Morgen ging es um 4 Uhr los
und ich habe dann vorher durchgemacht, wie die letzten Tage auch ein
paar Mal. Das wird bei der TI 10 im nächsten Jahr dann wohl
angenehmer, die findet in Stockholm statt.
