Nintendo announced a Switch that does NOT switch
A mobile-only Nintendo Switch "Lite" was announced this week. The original Nintendo Switch will still be available to purchase. Lite will be released on September 20th, 2019.
15 things you need to know...
1.Smaller trimmed down version, One self-contained unit
2.Left controller now has a d-pad instead of buttons.
3.Controllers are not removable and they do not have HD rumble.
4.There is no kickstand, table-top mode doesn't deem itself useful for the Lite.
5.Has a 5.5in screen vs the regular 6.2in.
6.No infrared sensor.
7.Still has NFC for Amiibo.
8.Does not support docked mode to play on a TV. Handheld only.
9.Cheaper, priced at $200 vs $300.
10.Mainly targeted towards kids, however many Nintendo fans will flock.
11.Available in yellow, grey, turquoise, and a special edition Pokemon.
12.More consistent battery life.
13.Supports wireless controllers.
14.Supports game cartridges and downloadable games.
15.Expandable SD card storage.

I already have a Nintendo Switch, I love it. I see no need to pick up a Lite myself, although I do love the turquoise color.

This new system looks really good. I would consider purchasing one... if it were maybe $99.00. Not being able to connect to a big screen is a huge downgrade.
I’d say within a year of release it and the original switch will both drop $50 to compete with the next-gen consoles.
And compete Nintendo will, they have something impeccable with the Switch. I know a Switch Pro will keep up with PS5 & company.
I thought the same thing when I found out about it. It's a solution in search of a problem.

I still think the sales will be strong, and I can almost guarantee that the size mold perfectly into the hands. My Switch is a tad too big in my hands. Especially with an added grip for comfort during extended session.
I’m really just shocked there’s is no HD rumble. That stuff is so damn realistic.
