Dang it Crypto! Getting Rekt on a Sunday

avatar

image.png

I always say that Sunday Evening in my timezone sets the tone for the week. If this holds true it is likely to be a rough week!

Bitcoin - $10k briefly broke that level and was at $9999

BNB - $27 - Rude

Steem - $0.25 Four for a dollar.. :)

SBD - $0.90 - Hello peg? :)

EOS - $4.18 sheesh.

TRX - $0.02 - Why did I buy this again?

Okay, I'm fine, I am not over-invested, but it is more fun when everything looks green and all my digital money that I never spend is up. :)

I dislike it that no matter what direction BTC is going Steem tends to go down.

As I have been saying, it is likely to get worse before it gets better.

No plan for marketing and no date for the HF.

I still love Steem if nothing else it has been my education.

Mostly though I am hoping many will adopt a NewSteem Attitude and change the way we are approaching it all.

What do you think will happen this week?

As long as the STEEM Delegates don't quit, we will hang on.

I don’t mind down swings in prices, gives me ample opportunity to buy on the low to take a swing at the highs! I’ve made some solid moves this year that I’m now comfortable with so bring on the lower prices!

There’s still lots of uncertainty with folks buying and selling, many aren’t used to the volatility. It’s tough to deal with but I think it has corrections and those are healthy and normal. Otherwise you have jokes like the stock market that continually goes up for no reason other than bogus money being injected into it.

Glad to hear it! Good job.

I don't think it's healthy to focus on the prices, be they up or down. Also, what would a marketing campaign look like for an open source, decentralized blockchain? What do you envision? Marketing campaigns don't work for open source, and certainly not for something as decentralized as we have here. Marketing is usually top down, and it requires a lot of overhead. I've pointed out before that open source does not "market". It doesn't mean it can't be done, but who will do it, because if it's bottom up it's not really marketing, but promotion, as most open source / bottom up projects are.

You know what I envision for a marketing campaign? Dank memes about censorship resistance and rewarding of contributions.

Yeah, I love all the people who say marketing doesn't work. When I say marketing I mean having a vision you can communicate and get people to say your name.

There are 2200 Crypto projects listed on CMC. How does a 80 listed token show up.

How did you end up here? Should steemit market steem? Shouldn't they market themselves? It's a variation of should Ford market the internal combustion engine?

I ended up here when people were saying our name. Ned was on shows, Dan was marketing, James Corbett is where I heard about it.

People were saying our name. Dollar Vigilante was talking about us. Tone Vays was talking about us.

People said our name. People came to Steem

Exactly, promotion from bottom up. So how will a top down marketing campaign look like? Will steemit market steem? Why should they? Why should they bother to market themselves even, when they have so much free exposure from the numerous people still promoting steem, both simply because so many use steemit, and because it still gets referenced, and then there's all these numerous other things happening that create even more exposure for steem, not only steemit.

We have Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Honda and Mazda, they don't have to market the automobile, they only have to market themselves in the automotive industry, if that, in my opinion all they have to do is stick their product amongst the competition in various areas because in the end that is the exposure that sells the car, screw that, they don't even have to do that, drivers recognize performance and will gladly pay to have it, then they will set new standards for driving, and will do so partly because of their ability, and partly because of the vehicle.

How many top lists are we in that no one needed to enter us into, some very well respected ones, and most we are right there at the top, heck, we are still without any competition as far as development and user base is concerned, AND we have not only a working product but a product that has been working so good that it literally leaves everyone in the dust.

I'm not here to fill people up with hope, I do think that we should focus on our price but only to recognize that it's symptomatic not endemic of our product. This is why the proposal is needed, as harsh it is to face that we are in a situation where we must act, it is not as bad as being in denial of the situation, or pretending that it's only a stage, by now it should be obvious that it's a trend and unless we change course, the trend won't magically reverse. I see a lot of people who don't think much of this place, still on here, they seem to truly think the worst about both Steemit and the Whales (in general) and it's usually the people who didn't invest anything but their free time and or the idiot retards that tried to buy themselves a figurative money tree, and I have absolutely no tolerance for either of them, I consider them more dangerous than trolls because unlike a troll with bad intentions that waste people time, they are completely unexamined and confident in their idiocy and believe their own shit, I mean how else can someone explain how in hell they keep lying, posting FUD and still justify spending their time here if they think this little of so mamy. They are unable to think farther than their biased and prejudiced perspectives, and they don't even pretend to try most of the time to have any sensible concerns or opinions, even though they don't matter almost at all because they have no real skin in the game, but because they voice feelings not logic and ideas, they join into a mass retardo consciousness of sentiment, and that is all price is, sentiment and confidence. I have confidence in both the abilities of the development and in the fundamentals that they are working from, but these imbecilic nonthinkers erode a lot of confidence in this place IMHO. They love their company, the miserable idiots, and they would probably loathe to even consider how to turn this place around. What will they do without the constant "cause" of their nastiness. It's fine, I'll make myself their huckleberry and gladly shit reason and logic from 20k feet on their "cause", from my view, they deserve nothing less, maybe you can convince them, or idk, persuade them, or hold their hand whilst you gently help them see the light of day, but just remember that from where I'm standing, I'm pretty much raining crap on them indiscriminately, and laughing like a madman.

4 for a dollar is a rather solid deal at the moment.

I hate to say it, but I still think we have some down pressure for a while.

Agreed but I don't think it will happen just like that I feel like today will be a small push higher from the massive sell off.

Trend is likely to continue into tomorrow and hit something like $9500. Might be a good idea to pull some coin out and put it into something stable since things are looking like a breakdown for the time being. Of course, no one can say for sure and we could be at $14,000 tomorrow… but that's highly unlikely.

If Bitcoin continues to do the whole rise and fall thing it's basically going to hammer the altcoins way way way down. Not only that, but a breakdown to $8000 could mean something like $3 EOS and $0.10 Steem or lower.

Waka waka.

The market demand is what it is. At 10c, it would allow a lot of people to power up if they choose to. There's clearly a glut of steem right now. Atleast there is a reason to buy it and power up (to some extent).

This must be one of the lowest values for Steem. Maybe an opportunity

And it still feels a bit high.

You can not buy it for influence yet as ... it's just too much.

You can not buy it for investment, we have too much self voting and selling from the whales.

I'll buy at some point, but I don't think we are there yet.

Steem will continue to fall. Unless, of course, it doesn't.

What do you think will happen this week?

Based on zero actual evidence, I’m predicting a panic flash crash.

But I am in no rush to sell. I am here for the long term. Come back and ask me in five years.

Yeah, I think we go down for a bit too.

I still love Steem, I'm hoping we can grind it out at some point. I have also accepted that we may never get it together.

I've frequently seen Steem go up when others go down, but it seems people are mainly selling right now. Maybe they are 'not fans' of crypto. It may be a good time to buy Steem and if there's less activity then we stand to earn more by sticking with it.

Yeah, I don't think I am ready to buy. I am open to it at some point.

I just don't see anything that gains any real attention happening. Not saying we couldn't go up on Market activity, but.. I love Steem. I just don't like the direction we are heading right now.

I agree there's no signs of much happening although thousands of accounts are being created every month by various people. I don't know how many of those become active, although there may be stats available for that. I know several people who have accounts, but have yet to use them. A musician/artist friend says it's not really worth his time as it stands as he is not likely to make much. He was also concerned about some extremists being on Steem, but that was always likely given the freedom it offers.

I have just about run out of people I can try to get on board. There needs to be some sort of marketing campaign that raises awareness of Steem. A few projects may have the funds for that, but then a low Steem price makes it harder.
