It's not dead, the system just gives too much incentive to game it and there are too few reasons to actually power up right now. Plenty of users want it to work so I'm sure ways will be found to make it all work more properly one day
Steem is far from dead can honestly say it is the only blockchain I actively use and not purely speculating on the price. If anything I personally am more bullish on steem then any other blockchain. Steem has a working product yes there are some things which could be done better but hopefully, that will come in time. Steem is a steal at these prices in my opinion however I do think steem is under the rader. I don't think people including those on steem and off which includes developers know how much you can do on the steem blockchain.

Not yet, price isn’t too pretty but it still the only blockchain I transact on everyday. Maybe people where looking for a get rich quick deal and didn’t want to stick in for the long hall idk.
I’m just waiting on .10 steem so I can finally get my 1000sp I’ve been wanting for so long.
I am literally half giving up on it. I have a bot harassing me by down voting everything I do. I feel like I wasted so much gains putting money into steem instead of leaving it Monero or dash. I still upvote out of habit and catch up on cryto news. But I am currently powering down half my sp and converting back to xmr. I'll keep half and see if it ever recovers.
Well it is all about inflation. The future of steem also strongly depends on the people that stand behind it as a community. To look at the witness list gives a bit more hope, but as value goes up, all the old pump and dump booster voting bot and useless shit post promoters will join again and flush it down again. So it depends on the people and surely it is oversold at the moment and should correct a little bit shortterm.
No offense, but that treepi guy is one of those dumb people that are selling and pulling the price down, which allows all the smart people to buy and accumulate even more STEEM for an incredible reward later on.
If @steemmonsters ever hits the google play store with an app we can expect steem will feel a little better.
Also someone needs to make emojis easier to use already. People are addicted to emojis... @partiko plzzz
A few more days and it will be the best time to buy in my estimation.

I just wanted a place where I could own my posts... unlike Medium or Facebook or pretty much every other blogging platform out there that exists.
