The Social Token Economic Empowerment Model

Granted, I have no idea what the name STEEM actually stands for, if it stands for anything at all. However, since #thisismysteem, I can call it whatever I want. In my last post I spoke a bit of a convergence of many streams that are coming together to shift the world and I thought I would carry along that vein of thought more closely tied to Steem itself.

Social

Not much happens in the world of humans without scoial connection. Supposedly one of the reasons we as a species were able to overcome the Neanderthal tribes that were smarter and stronger than us, was through our use of language to gather in number and coordinate our efforts. Community is always a major influence on us in a host of ways but this becomes even more pronounced the more global we become.

Over the last centuries and increasingly common to this point today, social movements have affected the way we organize ourselves and the values we hold. With the increase in reach and the decrease in time technology has afforded us, global movements are now common place and for better or worse, are going to continue to impact on who we are and how we behave as a global population. Our ability to manage these groups autonomously is going to come more to the fore and Steem is forging ahead with this through creation and ownership of independent communities.

Token

And while ownership of independent communities is great, what is going to help manage and empower the userbase will be through the tokenization of the groups. Most people associate tokenization with financial considerations, but they can actually be used in many ways and the community creators will start to explore how a voting token can bring value to the community they have built.

The SCOT Tribes have given a glimpse into how tokenization gamifies experience to create a compelling atmosphere that engages users and separates themes out into sub-communities in the larger Steem arena. This paves the way for a host of community interactions to be built that can collect and organize people into a coherent group able to coordinate and act as one.

Economic

One of the major hurdles faced in this world is distribution of resources and this is made harder due to a small fraction owning and therefore controlling most of the resources required. While having a tokenized community is great, it is only when they are able to hold value that they become an influential force and as the community gathers people, they also gather skills and resources that can be used individually or pooled in order to satisfy milestones. Small, medium and eventually large businesses can build with a strong and incentivized userbase to support and power them.

However on Steem, rather than being separated islands of communities, they are all pieces of a larger whole that is built into the same greater economy that supports them all through Resource Credits and stabilization of experience. The Steem blockchain will be the foundation that connects the communities above it, and the decentralized rock that gives each a platform to build upon equally. A strong foundation is necessary to develop for any economy and we are moving toward this now.

Empowerment

And it is at this point that it becomes exciting in my opinion as the social, token and economic layers pull together to build an experience that is tailored for users to not only be owners and contributors to their individual communities, but due to the interconnectedness, build a sense of responsibility for the entire ecosystem of communities. This matrices of intertwined experience, values and incentives all residing within he same economy allows cross-community interaction to a high degree and facilitates innovation and collaboration.

With the diversity of community and global reach, this innovation will increasingly find solution to community concerns, and that will spill across internal communities and splash over the ever-increasing boundaries into the real world. The innovation gets traction, the communities extend their reach and more and more are pulled into the fold to feed the creative cycle in any number of the Steem experiences an individual may choose. Through this, Steem becomes a creative force that has an increasingly decentralized and growing mass of value to leverage to meet goals.

Model

And then we will have a working model of the world that is inclusive despite diversity and difference, able to provide ownership and practical value to its users in an economy that is broadly spread, underpinned and stable through numbers in an ecosystem that incentivizes participation, development and collaboration.

This is a model that would in time evolve to be able to completely replace the crumbling economic system we currently rely on and release the hands that grip so tightly to it because they are the small fraction who own it. This model doesn't take away the value from them however, it just attracts the greatest force humans have at their disposal to shift its habits, and demand differently. The beauty of it is that many models can exist,change form and evolve independently and simultaneously while still being within the field of Steem play.

Opt-in

While so many people want to invest to make money, what they should be demanding is that those they are looking to invest into, start rolling themselves into the new economy where betterment for humanity is the process of choice. While my vision or your vision of Steem may differ, they can still add value to the whole. In the case of not having a vision of Steem at all, just get into the car of a community you could enjoy
