Steemians assemble in London

avatar
(Edited)

I've spent a fun evening at Mercato Metropolitan with some cool Steemians. @redrica organised this event. The venue is good as it has every kind of food you could desire. There's lots of space to sit outside, but it got really crowded as the evening went on.

This is before it filled up.

It took me a while to find the Steemians, but I bumped into @nanzo-scoop and @veritanuda who pointed me in the right direction.

Also there were @dougalporteous, @colossus39, @teodora, @susanlo and @shanibeer (all the way from Leicester!). There were a couple of guys from the Craft Coin Company when I arrived. They have an app that lets you buy beer for crypto!

This seems to be mainly available in London and China so far. You buy some coins and then can order a beer from the nearest bar. They could do with something to show what you ordered to show at the bar. I had a couple of beers that are brewed right there. For the second I ordered a half and got a pint!

This was my Japanese pancake.

I had a wheat beer with my pecan pie dessert.

I could not stay too late, but others left before me. I never seem to get a proper chat with Nanzo. I will grab him first next time.

I can recommend getting to any event like this. Organise your own if necessary. @pennsif is listing those he hears about, so let him know.

I'm waiting for my train home. Managed to just miss one.

Steem on!

It's a shame you can't come every time, but I hope you can have your own local events. I just enjoy getting together with these guys.

Nice to see that even in these dark times many communities are still alive! The Portuguese community, which was already small to start with, is down way to many people, not sure if we will ever do another meetup since there are so few of us now... probably when the price increases they will come back.

Are they that dark? Most of us can still make more on Steem than elsewhere and if you believe it has a future then it may be worth in the time now. In any case this is mainly a social event. I know all these people and we can have fun conversations as I would with other groups with common interests. In fact a fair few of them are hardly posting on Steem. I'm not going make back what it cost to get there with this post, but I still consider it worth going. Profit is not my priority.

Awesome that you guys and girls got to meet up! Looks like you had a good time. One of these days I'll be able to get to one but weekdays aren't great for me, hopefully see you next time

I'm sure if you can suggest a time and place convenient for you then some people could come along. We have a good social group who are open to including more people.

Yep, once things settle down a bit I'll be suggesting a few visits/walks around the countryside haha. Offline life is taking a bit of precedence at the moment as well but it is temporary and I'll be able to move a bit more freely in October and then December onwards 🙂

Awesome that you are continuing to interact with these people in real life. I might have to try to get down to the Detroit blockchain group that frequently meets down there sometime.

Go for it. We need to get more people on board so you are more likely to have some Steemians nearby. The social aspect is important.

The first photo looks like a massive warehouse, and in the second photo someone bought a whole keg of beer. A good turn out though, sounds like a very good night out.

I suspect it was a warehouse before and I think @nanzo-scoop bought the keg :) It was good. Have you been to any meetups? I have been to loads now and it has helped me connect with more people. Of course Steemfest is the big one, but smaller events are cool too.
