Steem is buzzing today with a significant price jump and big news from various dapps.
There are major updates from Reviewhunt, SteemPress and TravelFeed, as well as news from Steemleo and Leodex, a new Splinterlands show on MSP, an extension of How Steem Impacted My Life and a 3Speak fundraiser for Australia.
And there are additions to the new Diary Dates section as well as regular updates on the Steem Foundation and the Steem Proposal System...
1. STEEM price jumps
STEEM saw a dramatic jump in price of over 40% to as much as US$0.20 at one point today.
It is not clear what has caused the increase although @steemitqa spotted some good coverage in the crypto media that might have helped...
2. New Reviewhunt to launch on 29 January
Reviewhunt launched in beta in August last year. @steemhunt are now ready to bring it out of beta and will be introducing a whole new Reviewhunt on 29 January.
There will be major changes in the new Reviewhunt including one account for Hunters and Makers, quests replacing campaigns, a USD point-based reward unit system, and increased withdrawal options...
3. SteemPress Updates
@steempress has posted an update on recent developments including Google signup and login for guests, a profile settings dashboard, and an upcoming Community blog...
4. TravelFeed Developments & Vision
@travelfeed has added a new Table Of Contents Editor Block feature.
It has also outlined its vision for the TravelFeed platform...
5. New version of Leodex launching Monday
Investment tribe @steem.leo are launching version 3 of their successful Leodex exchange platform on Monday.
The new Leodex will include a long-awaited feature - Candlestick Charts, along with a new Services page and a new Leoswap page...
6. New Splinterlands Show on MSP Waves
@nealmcspadden is launching a new show on MSP-Waves later tonight (Sunday 3am - 4am UTC).

8. 3Speak Fundraiser for Australia

The Steem Alliance Community Foundation @steemalliance have released the minutes of their last meeting attended by @shadowspub, @phage93,@alexvan, @guiltyparties, @snook and @inthenow...
Their next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 22 January.
Steem Proposal System update
The Steem Proposal System (SPS) today has a daily funding budget available of approximately 2300 SBD.
There are now a record six proposals receiving funding from @yabapmatt (Steem Keychain), @thecryptodrive (Power Down reduction), @howo (SMT testing), @netuoso (Vessel Desktop Wallet), @anyx (API infrastructure) and @thecryptodrive again (SBD Potato Top Up).
These successful proposals are currently receiving a total of 696 SBD per day...
Hovering just outside the funding zone is the @steemonboarding proposal from @anomadsoul and @coruscate...

Can EOS's rivals help Steem?
Hopefully...
I saw Steem up at 22c yesterday, but it's fallen back a bit now. That has moved it about 10 places up the charts. There was a lot of volume in the trading. The idea of actually using the platform still seems to be a hard sell.
Hopefully it can hold on to some of the gained ground.
