Is Justin Sun Cracking?

The Steem community is split. We have the votes to take back the super majority, but those votes are being withheld. Steem consensus is being filibustered.

To my knowledge the Korean community holds a deciding vote. They have some demands/questions.

https://steempeak.com/hive-101145/@sct/proxy-token-proxy-token-witness-voting-policy

(Are you willing to shorten the SP power-down period to three to seven days from current period? )

스팀 블록체인의 다운보팅을 제거할 의향이 있는가?

스팀 블록체인에 스마트 컨트랙트를 도입할 의향이 있는가?
(Are you willing to introduce smart contact into the STEEM block chain? )

Sun's response?

Pandering and unhinged, and also deleted.

  1. Are you willing to believe the sanctity of private property or do you just want to take innocent people’s hard earned money under toxic “consensus”?
  2. Are you willing to shorten the SP power-down period to 3-7 days from the current period?
  3. Are you willing to remove the down-voting policy of STEEM blockchain?
  4. Are you willing to introduce smart contracts into the STEEM block chain?
  5. Are you willing to keep a good relationship with prestigious exchanges and increase our STEEM token value or do you just want to fuck them?
  6. Are you willing to protect the rights of the community members or do you just want to hurt and destroy those you disagree with?
7.Are you willing to support Steemit, Inc. in accomplishing their job to increase our token value or do you just want to stab them in the back for your own interest?
8.Are you willing to increase STEEM token value that benefits the whole community or do you only care about your own interest and don’t give a fuck about the real community?
  7. Are you willing to welcome new investors in the future and include everyone into our community or do you just want to fuck those new investors, freeze their investment and kick them out?
  8. Are you willing to always stick to the truth or will you just spread rumors to generate misunderstandings in the community and poison our community culture?
  9. Do you like Justin Sun or you just want to fuck him?
We will vote for the witnesses after reviewing witnesses' public answers to the above questions ASAP!
Do you have a dream to become one of the Top20 Witnesses? This is your chance!"

Sun is essentially bribing the Korean community to support his coup and he will reward them with permanent top 20 witness spots. It's incredible.

We need to convince the Korean community that Sun has no intention of helping them. He wants out of this deal ASAP and is looking for votes so that he doesn't have to ask the exchanges to attack us again.

Now is not the time to filibuster the chain and negotiate with someone looking to exploit us in a hostile takeover. Unfortunately, many people on chain don't feel that way. They think this is a great time to make demands.

It's not

The exchanges have the power to remove out witnesses and let Justin Sun push a hardfork immediately. @aggroed has it on good authority this hardfork is already done and waiting to be pushed through.

Exchanges have not started a powerdown.

This is honestly a huge tell. They expect Justin Sun to win so definitively that they aren't even powering down to become solvent again. This is also a huge mistake on their part. There is no reason they shouldn't have started a powerdown no matter what the situation is. I don't understand this logic. Perhaps it's just a mistake?

There's also the situation of the exchanges being lied to by Justin Sun. They are claiming they had no idea and thought they were helping retake the chain back from hackers. Their actions tell another story, but this is their official stance. They may not help Sun retake the chain, even if we're on the cusp of regaining the network. If they attack us again they will have proven themselves for the liars they are, something they are likely not willing to do considering how much press this story is getting.

Why can't we retake the network?

Many people think the actions of the witnesses (freezing Justin's accounts) is what started this whole mess.

31mI3uR3VSL._AC_SX425_.jpg

I think about it like this:

Justin Sun was sold a dagger. He was brandishing the dagger making conflicting statements about what he was going to do with it. When the Steem community put the dagger away and said "let's talk about this", Justin Sun immediately grabbed the dagger back and cut us with it.

To take the position that we shouldn't have "stolen" the dagger in the first place and that's why we got slashed is ridiculous. The escalation went from 0 to 100, all from the Tron side.

Unfortunately, not everyone sees it this way. They see Sun as an avenue to punish many of the witnesses they've had conflict with. So many people in the community are talking about downvotes in response to this coup. Downvotes have nothing to do with this, but because users are sour from being downvoted they will not stand with the witnesses. It's pretty sad that this community would leverage a dictator to try and get what they want. They are going to be sadly disappointed if Sun "wins". He doesn't care about them. He's shown his true colors.

Conclusion

Super professional Justin Sun seems to be on his last legs. He said 'fuck' four times in a desperate attempt to appeal to the Korean community. This latest deleted message paints the picture of not a confident business man but as someone in a desperate situation grasping at straws.

I hope the community can band together against this dictator.

The top priority is to boot Sun off the network. If the Korean community was the deciding vote in this struggle I'm sure that alone would give them quite a bit of leverage and clout in the aftermath.

His formatting was ugly too...

Also, did he forget that this is a blockchain and even if you delete the post, it still lives?

Noob!

The exchanges and sun have a liquidity issue now..

That's why they want the 3 day Powedown (only for exchanges ;])

I tell you:
Justin wants control, so he gotta pay for it now.

There are not even 81m liquid Steem right now.

The community needs to come together, buy as much as they can and simultaneously dont sell a single steem for less than 4$.

Justin gotta pay.

The exchanges have to give back the steem to their customers.
Every Single one of us can pull them to court.
Especially if they dont give our assets back (which they cant cuz it's powered up)

;)

I think in his last voice-meeting with the Witnesses he sounded really honest and he just sees Steemit as investment. Maybe he had no bad intentions at all in the first place. He also had no idea that the Stake was tied to a use case, to support the community and onboarding and not to allow witness voting with the Stake.

But the thing is, that he wants to solve problems his way and not the way they are used to be solved here on Steem. We can't simply change the governance just becuase he, Ned or anyone else (like Exchanges) wants it. Somebody made a mistake and he should had to know the rules before when playing with that much money.

Governance is made by the majority and the elected witnesses thats a major rule he tried to break.

Just my two cents.

Additionally strange things happen:

"Governance is made by the majority and the elected witnesses thats a major rule he tried to break."

No. Governance is made by the majority stake, and that's the rule he used. @ned just never did, preferring to allow decentralization on the blockchain.

Ok, thx for your reply. If this is real i think we need to change the rules.

Do read the white paper, which explains the rules. That will enable you to base your understanding on those facts, and also to propose viable solutions to the extant problem.

He's not going to pump anymore money into this failed investment. He knows even if he wins we're going to fork and then everyone loses (him the most). Sun has nothing to offer. Steemit Inc is no more. He sits on an empire of dirt and is trying to trade the dirt back for something.

Justin Sun is just a boy who was lucky to get rich from a couple of epic BTC bull markets that nobody believed in. He's playing mostly with the bags of other children like him.

No one in the real business world out there would take an actor like him seriously. This sort of shit can go down only in crypto, a very immature sector still tiny in comparison to the wider economy.

The problem i see is that there was something more nefarious going on.

Either Ned lied through his teeth to Mr. Tron, or this was a setup.
Or Mr. Tron doesn't know what a community is.

As McAfee said, "you can't buy a community, its like trying to scoop water with a sieve."

Sooooo, which is it?

Mr. Tron's first statement is

Are you willing to believe the sanctity of private property or do you just want to take innocent people’s hard earned money under toxic “consensus”?

Which is the root of the entire problem.

Mr. Tron "its my money, i paid for it"
And doesn't speak at all of "it was stolen money" or it was money earmarked only to be used in certain ways.

Good writing there Mr. Tron, state a thing in a way that everyone will agree with you, but misses the point.

So, did Ned fail to inform Mr. Tron, or is this all part of a play.

I think you mean Ned @builderofcastles, not Dan.

And I think Ned did lie to him, completely. But then, without a contract in place, what obligation did Ned have? I do not know the legalities on that.

On the legalities... there is no jurisdiction to try this in.

If there was, the case would be
"He sold me a bunch of funny money, that didn't do what i wanted it to do"
and the judge would laugh his ass off.

But, if there was a president about tokens being worth something AND there was a court that could try this, then

  • according to contract law, that these tokens were meant for X,Y,Z and not for voting was well known, and all parties were working on that assumption. Thus there is an obligation on those tokens.
  • Ned had to disclose those obligations to anyone he sold those tokens to.
  • Ned only sold steemit.com, and since there was a huge emphasis, by him and others (changing logos...) then the sale of steemit.com does not come with controlling interest in STEEM blockchain.

I'm pretty sure the UCC applies to the relevant transaction, which creates jurisdiction for seeking legal remedy of tortuous harm.

Yes the UCC applies, and is where my bullet points come from.

but, where does STEEM reside?
Where does Mr. Tron reside?
Where does Ned reside?
Where does steemit.com exist?

So, in all the answers, you end up with a court who doesn't have the authority to demand restitutions.

I really doubt this transaction is so complex the UCC cannot apply. My knowledge of lawyers sadly convinces me that hordes of them will eagerly leap to the fray, milking all of these questions for all they're worth, until they're settled, and actions proceed.

In the audio provided by @ura-soul in his last post, @elipowell stated she told the Tron team the witnesses would lock up the stake, presumably because it was understood to be committed to not effecting governance, and earmarked for development.

Regarding your opinion of negotiation tactics at meetings you did not attend and haven't a clue regarding their conduct, perhaps it isn't useful to pejoratively speculate regarding them, particularly in view of the lack of confidence potential in the integrity of the supposed target of those tactics.

Regardless of what the seller relates regarding an asset under negotiation, caveat emptor certainly applies, particularly to an accredited investor like Justin Sun. Any failure to understand the asset he purchased is Sun's responsibility, and his use of that asset thereafter certainly only reflects on him.

Stupid question:

The @sct post mentions “6.4 million Steem Power” but which wallet(s) are they talking about? @sct has a bit over 20k SP and @proxy.token a bit more than 4K. What am I missing?

A lot of ideas floating out there.

In the end, I believe Sun had no idea what he was getting into. He believes that Steem was going to be like Lino (Dlive) and he could just roll it in without any resistance.

Cross-posted this on the Really Great Stuff Community. And reposted myself.

I am using this cross-posting stuff initially as a "save my bacon posts" kind of thing and at the same time, to check if after some time, to evaluate the kind of "greatness" people think in comparison to me.

I had some fun reading your post... even already knowing 99% on what was here (yes, I learned 1% which is super valuable for me). Thanks!

i think youre wrong. the pressure that cz is putting on him is IMMENSE. he is in so much shit right now. crypto banks are trying to make a name for themselves and the official narrative is that justin sun tricked CZ into powering up investor funds to attack the network.

the optics on this are so abysmal on a legendary level. binance, huobi, and poloniex are insolvent. this is unprecedented
