Does tag abuse warrant flagging?
I remeber when I joined Steem about 2 years ago, and there was a big hurrah around tag abuse. Specifically people were getting annoyed with people using popular tags to try boost their post, often using a tag that didnt even slightly relate to their content. The classic example was the #introduceyourself tag which was often frequented by manual curators.
Fast forward to today and we have come along way, and now we have many different 'tribes' - esentially cloned of Steemit but focussed on a specific area such as sports, music or investing and rewarding users in their native tokens. Although I am new to tribes and mainly interested in sports and music, I am concerned people will start to abuse these tags with irrelevant content in an attempt to earn their tokens. This could be a disaster and lead to shit and irrelevant content. I have noticed a few posts that are barely related to the overall topic and have started to think about flagging them for tag abuse in an attempt to keep the tribes 'clean'.
I am still new to the idea of the 'free flags', but feel that anything that is a shitpost or clearly trying to extract rewards without adding value to the specific tribe should be considered for flagging. I want these tribes to stay on topic and become like a flourishing news feed around a certain topic area.
I would love feedback on this idea, and also sharing of how you are using your new flags.
Hi and welcome here! When I started on steemit, my biggest problem was to find interesting people to interact with. So, to help newcomers getting started I created a directory with other interesting and or talented steemians to follow or interact with. Feel free to check it out at https://www.steemiandir.com I am sure it will help you find like-minded people. Enjoy your stay here and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions!
I've flagged tag abuse in the tribes I enjoy like Sports and Leo! It's up to us to keep these tribe sites clean and curb reward farming.
It if gets bad I normally report them to the tribe owner to have them muted from the platform.

Except #steemleo #sportstalk #photography #stem and a few more are specific tags we should use on the specific topic...the rest we can use always because they are generic IMO.
Yeah thats what i think... still learning about them
