You can scroll down to see what I got out of the mystery potion if you like or you can read my post from start to finish. I am want is to tell a story ;)

About a few days ago I met a fellow who was new to splinterlands and witness his string of luck. @mechwarrior is the steem id name and likely he will not find this post as he is also just starting to learn about steem and steemit. Yet by chance when he was on splinterland's official discord channel he was about to amass some pretty amazing cards. One big win for him was purchasing a mystery potion for 1200 DEC and it turned out was a Prince Julian! He exchanged the single card to amass a deck worth close to $150 USD, 200 steems and 50k DEC.

I being jealous and greedy decided to buy my own mystery potion and waited for the following day for it to automatically open. (For those who do not know mystery potion is a random reward that opens each day the player enters the game. To get the mystery potion one needs to buy it through the game shop).

The Following Day....

There I was laying in bed as I awoke from the sound of my phone's alarm. I quickly enter steemmonsters.com and first thing that popped up on screen was an invitation of me to open my mystery reward. My heart beating faster as I witness the graphics of the gift box disappearing and in its place was....

......

One quest potion!

Heck at least it was not one common rewards card. Still no Prince and I knew then that I had to play another few thousand games before I could earn as much as what @mechwarrior was able to accomplish in less than a week. :/

Continuing on, the next phase was completing the daily quest. Surprisingly I was able to complete the quest at gold rank 2.

All right so here I am just finished with the quest and going to open my reward cards. Here are the results. Amazing? NO?

....

So if I go the most conservative route and assume the top 5 most valuable cards were due to the use of the quest potion I would have $0.19. That equates to present value of around 300 DEC. :(

Conclusions...

I started out with 1200 DEC and end up with a quest potion worth 750 DEC and that lead to a best case 300 DEC worth of reward cards. A -75% return! No prince for me. No mystery potion for me for many days to come...
