Splinterslands Anytime Tournments Eternal "Waiting" Message

WAITING...

Well that was anti-climactic. I tried out the anytime tournaments today and the second battle that I tried to pick a team for gave me an eternal "waiting" message. The first team I picked and submitted worked but the second battle I tried to pick a team for and submitted gave me this waiting message that lasted forever and wouldn't go away. Now, I'm not sure if choosing "Skip Battle" will cause me to surrender the match, which I don't want to do , so so far anytime tournaments are a big disappointment for me.

Anybody know if choosing "skip battle" will cause me to unwillingly surrender the match? What am I supposed to do? Not sure if the opponent I was facing was a bot or not, but maybe that had something to do with it? Just a theory, which I could be completely wrong about.
