After losing 2 - 1 to the Desert foxes of Algeria in the very last minutes of stoppage time through a deadly freekick from Mahrez last week, the Super Eagles of Nigeria clashed with the Aigles de Carthage (Eagles of Carthage) of Tunisia to see who would take the third place in the AFCON 2019 Tournament.
It was a match that saw both teams fight hard to finish the tournament on a high note. As the match was preparing to kick off, I made it clear to the people I was watching the game with that this game would end in the favor of the super eagles and also added that we would see a goal either from Iwobi, Chukuweze, Ekong or Ighalo.
About 3 minutes into the match, Tunisia had already conceded a goal which was powered in by Ighalo . For the first time I felt like the world's best football forecaster and was actually beginning to brag.
Through out the first half, Nigeria was the stronger side and they kept attacking and pressing Tunisia from time to time. However, I could see some miscommunication between Musa and Ndidi on the left wing. Most of the ball passes on that wing were blind passes and were being easily won away by Tunisia. It was also difficult to break the defense in that wing. It was a little bit annoying and I really wanted the Nigerian coach to make the changes as soon as possible.
It's so unfortunate that 2 minutes before half time, Ighalo the goal scorer picked a muscle cramp which saw him leave the game.

During the 2nd half, Tunisia was the much stronger team, they seemed to have switched up their game play and were really determined to get a goal to level things up. To be honest, Wahbi Khazri played really well for Tunisia. He was moving and playing all around the field and in my opinion I think he is a really flexible player. If only there was another Tunisian player who matched his game play last night, they would have gotten a goal.
Nigeria were able to withstand the pressure from Tunisia in the second half and made sure they did everything to protect their single goal until the end of the match.
The match concluded 1- 0 with Nigeria emerging victorious.
Overall, the game didn't have much entertaining action as I had anticipated. All in all it was a good game and I have to congratulate the Super Eagles and Nigerians at large for winning the AFCON 2019 3rd place.
I would also like to congratulate Aigles de Carthage (Eagles of Carthage) for reaching this far into the competitions.
Looking forward to final North African vs West African battle which will be between Algeria and Senegal tomorrow. It will be an interesting match to watch.
Who do you think will take the AFCON 2019 cup home??

The adrenaline rush is insane!!
