Emiliano Buendia has reportedly been on the wish list of Mikel Arteta and Arsenal for a long time, but now several media outlets are reporting that Aston Villa have overtaken the London club inside. Both the Daily Mirror, football.london and the British news agency PA Media all report that the match is in full swing and that Aston Villa are close.

Arsenal should have sent an offer to Norwich, but Aston Villa have thrown even more money on the table in the hope of landing the Argentine.

Buendia was already rumored away from Norwich after relegation from the Premier League, but the 24-year-old Argentine took the team down to the Championship and had a great season. He played 39 games and spiced it up with 15 goals and 17 assists. His good season also meant that he was selected for the Argentine national team for the first time. Buendia was part of the 30-man gross squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Columbia, which are currently being played. However, he was not part of the 23 selected for yesterday's match against Chile, which ended 1-1

Great signing from Aston Villa. Buendia is a great addition to the team.

Too bad for arsenal, letting a player like this slip up from their grasp. I bet they wasn't ready to doll out enough cash for the Argentine
