My Fantasy Football season was a bit crap

In order for someone to win, someone else has to lose and well, most of the time this season, the person losing was me. I didn't finish dead last but I was close.

Just like the above ecard says, my favorite NFL team sucked this year too. I couldn't even bear to watch the Panthers play past about half-way into the season, it was depressing.

Now when you look at that it doesn't seem so bad because 3/5 of the people in my division finished in 2nd place due to identical records. So from a win/loss perspective there were only 3 people who did better than I did overall. However, it was the weeks that I really thought I planned out my roster properly and really thought I made the right choices that ticked me off because it almost never worked out for me.

Then on the other side of things there were weeks where I forgot to even look at my lineup and did stellar such as the final game of the season for me where I destroyed my opponent.

Of course a lot of this has to do with Kenyan Drake having a stellar game. It isn't often that one player has a near perfect game and scores 4 TD's. It probably helped that Arizona was playing Cleveland (poor Browns fans this year!) Don't ask why I had the Jacksonville defense because I don't know the answer to that.

So I suppose the season ended on a high note because i won big, bigger than anyone else in our league that day. It's just kind of funny to me that this happened on a week when I didn't even look at my lineup because I forgot.

Maybe next year I should just set my team up and walk away, apparently my involvement is the problem.

How did your team do this season? Better than me I hope!

Sounds like you and I had very similar seasons. I didn't finish dead last, but I was horrible enough that it hurt just as bad every time I lost. Plus I am a Lions fan, so I think we all know how that probably went for me :) The worst part of it is the fact that I am the commissioner for our league, so you would think I should know what I am doing. Yet some of my inlaws who basically have no clue and probably just guess about what they are doing trounced me. It was a pretty sad season! I feel you about thinking you have the perfect lineup and then getting hammered. It is maddening!

yep, this season we had money on it too, not a lot but enough that every loss was a "dammit!" moment. When i was surrounded by Brits I joined a fantasy soccer league and was routinely at the top of the table and winning almost every week because..... I had no idea who most of the players were and was just choosing names in the dark.

It used to drive them crazy that I would win but perhaps not knowing what you are doing can be a blessing!

I am totally thinking so. It seems to be a better strategy just to fly by the seat of your pants. My brother in law has won out league the past three years in a row. The winner of our league gets a fifth of alcohol from each of the other members. He always wants whiskey and I hate giving away whiskey!

i can certainly relate to not wanting to give away booze!

I stopped doing fantasy football in any serious capacity years ago but i know people who pay so much attention to it that it almost seems like a religion to them.

yeah, i know of few people like that over here. The guy who won our league was super dedicated and knew pretty accurate stats without any sort of smartphone assistance. He even had programs on his computer that would monitor the vegas lines and what not on individual players and pro recommendations on to handle pretty much every week. It kind of seems like cheating but whatever, he probably spends hours a day on it while I would just look at my phone while waiting for the bus and adjust my lineups willy nilly.
