Mar. 28, 20: AutomaticWin, TripleTen, Programming, and Games

Up just shortly before six today, but fell asleep fairly early and got caught up a little.

Did the usual morning routine and then did a bit of an experiment. Blocktrades has got a direct trade from Steem to Hive, so I wanted to see how that worked.

It went easy peasy, and while I don’t like how opaque the fees are, I think it’s worth the simplicity. It’s certainly significantly less hassle than depositing to an exchange, trading to bitcoin, then to hive, then withdrawing - between trading and withdrawal fees, splipage and time I’m pretty sure you end up saving money, plus Blocktrades is a member of our community rather than some big foreign entity, so that’s a bonus too.

I was determined to get out and get a #AutomaticWin and I even decided to take the dog with. By the time we got ready and walked out the door, it had started raining again, like proper raining, not just a drizzle, so I said “Nuh uh.”

Instead I cleared a path and did loops in the garage. It didn’t really register the distance very well, but I crushed my step goal way before ten! 👍💪

In the afternoon I sat down at the computer and worked on Solairibot. I had two things I wanted to achieve:

•build a getter, a setter, and a newUser utility in a dedicated JavaScript file to interact the database.

•call it from the main file.

Pretty awesome 👏 I got both things accomplished!!! 😁 From there I expanded the capabilities of the getter and setter to handle different inputs (added a switch statement), but I’m struggling with the asynchronous nature of the call/promise chain.

It seems that it’s impossible to return a value from a promise chain (you have to perform the ops within the “then” statement, otherwise it just returns undefined because the return is called before the promise is resolved.

I think there’s some way around it using a callback function, but I’m yet to figure that out. Right now it does get the information I want, but it just console.logs it and I want to take the resulting information and do stuff with it elsewhere (in another function).

In the evening @wenchebakken made pasta and meat sauce for dinner and we watched a bit of the tube. She’s watching The Americans...I’ve only seen bits and pieces and so for me it’s kinda’ boring. Put me to sleep early.

I didn’t get my arena task done today in Holybread. 😢 In fact, I had another day of no wins at all! 😡

Fallen ever so slightly below the hundred bar, but if I can get a couple wins, I’ll be back in business.

I had Earth splinter for my Splinterlands quest today. I really wanted to get up into Diamond I to complete it, but after an hour of straight playing and ending up lower than when I started, I finally gave up on that goal.
