Jan. 19, 20: Hiking, Grocery Shopping, and Movies

Even though it was five degrees colder than a witches nipple outside, we went for our weekly hike out in the woods. 😀. It was pretty rough going, actually, and despite our best efforts we missed the #AutomaticWin by only sixty steps or so. 😢

I was kinda’ wrapped up in being disappointed with myself and focusing on the insanely slippery roads, so I totally forgot to turn my map off at the end 🤭 That is definitely not a legit twelve kilometers...six is more like it.

When I say it was cold 🥶 I ain’t muckin’ about! It was snowing sideways on top. Damn, we’re hardcore! 🤯

The wind wasn’t too bad in the woods, though, so a bit of a reprieve from the windchill.

I think a caught a few of those flakes a flyin’.

The doggy got another chance to be off the leash. He did really well this time! There were a couple of scares...once he started hauling ass after a squirrel 🐿 but he listened and stopped dead in his tracks and came back when we yelled! 😀

It was a tough treck, it had snowed and then frozen rain on top and then snow on top of that! One person had gone before us, but I think it might have been easier on the ankles to have been the first, since my feet kept sliding into the footprints.

Once we got to the first road crossing we decided that enough was enough and we put the dog on the leash and took the roads back. Still pretty rough being so slick, but we were definitely able to pick up the pace.

After our hike, we went into town to do the grocery shopping. It had been quite a while since we’d gone (Wenche was away in Norway 🇳🇴) and there was a lot of stuff on sale, so we stocked up big time!

We also were a little smarter this year and thought ahead to the garden. Last year nothing got planted and I grew a patch of prize-winning weeds. We got peppers 🌶 and peas and tomatoes 🍅 (two different kinds) and broccoli 🥦 (never tried growing that before!) and parsley and onions 🧅 and a kit to get them started inside before the ground thaws. Should hopefully be a bountiful harvest this year!!! 😋😃

In the evening @wenchebakken made yummy bacon burgers and fries and we watched some movies on Netflix. 😎

Woah, buddy, did Steemmonsters make me wanna’ cry! Got up into the 2400’s alright and then caught the longest losing streak I think I’ve ever had! Add one more to these:

Even so, I did complete my Fire 🔥 quest still in Gold II. I’m actually ahead of the game on quest potions since I missed a whole daily with the tournament BS. 😄 Pretty much just common rewards today, although it’s nice to get a gold foil. Got to try and rebuild back up to Gold I today...maybe catch a win streak as long?!
