Jan. 13, 20: Zombierun, Planning, and Teaching Calculus II

Although we were up pretty early, I didn’t go out with @wenchebakken because I procrastinated on my planning for the entire break.

I hunkered down, though, and got to work. It took me a heck of a lot longer than I thought it would since, for some reason, I only had a pdf copy of my syllabus and schedule. That meant I had to construct both from the ground up in LaTeX.

Nevertheless, I got it all done. I used the planning calendar that the school gave to me, and even though I kept going over and over it, it came out with six extra classes. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out why I kept getting three extra weeks...after class a student came up to me and asked me about the schedule and I finally caught it (after I had planned the whole semester with extra classes)! Some of the days are listed twice! Like January 27,28,29, and 30 appear on the January page AND the February page. Now I get to go back and try and fix it before class today.

Still, got it all set (with errors) with enough time to head out for a solid walk. I only meant to go five kilometers because I was running a bit short on time, but it ended up being more than six anyway. 😀

Not bad out, actually. There was a little wind, but not enough to be very noticeable other than on your cheeks. By the time the walk was over the gloves had long come off.

A bit lame...only one shot on the day, but I was trying to get done in time.

I got a zombie straight out of the gate, and a fast one at that! Had to sprint top speed and still got a twenty meter warning. Even so, I was able to evade it.

We discovered a group of mind-controlled zombies all marching in time. They high-tailed it to where there was an infestation and let loose with the zombie on zombie violence. Was kind of a relief to let the zombies fight themselves for once. Six for six evaded and mission complete.

Steemmonsters wasn’t much better today. I bounced around in Gold I and wasn’t able to afford a quest potion. We’re on the last day of the season, so I’m not holding out much hope for Diamond this time, which is insanely frustrating and seriously pisses me off since I’ve gotten it the last two seasons. What am I to do when they put me up against people four or five hundred above me? I’m so close, like 2170, so I might give it one last shot, but I have the feeling I’m just going to lose a whole lot.

Got my stats for the last week. A bit of a mixed bag and under a hundred thousand for the week, but with teaching starting up again, I should be hitting some #DoubleDays.
