When I think of the old AC Milan I know, I wonder what drew them back to their current place on Serie A. Some years ago; they were the talk of the world. The club was filled with world-class players and they did pretty well in all competitions back then. Now, hardly will you find them in UEFA Champions League. They’ve become Europa League goers. They finished 6th in both the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 Serie A seasons. I kept saying; This is not the AC Milan I knew. Liverpool fans and all football lovers will never forget the 2005 UEFA Champions League final played with AC Milan. It was a match to remember till infinity. The two sides then were hot like fire. They both have lifted the trophy multiple times, so I will say their pedigree is unquestionable. Below is the list of the players that featured in the final

Liverpool

Jerzy Dudek, Steve Finnan, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia, Djimi Traore, Luis Garcia, Steven Gerrard, Xabi Alonso, Arne Riise; Harry Kewell, Milan Baros.

AC Milan

Dida, Cafu, Jaap Stam, Alessandro Nesta, Paolo Maldini, Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf, Kaka, Hernan Crespo, Andriy Shevchenko.

These are the fantastic players that played in finals. The match started with Paolo Maldini scoring in the 1st minute. It was a quick goal. In just a minute into the game, AC Milan was already leading with one goal . The match continues, and another goal entered for AC Milan in the 38th minutes by Hernan Crespo. Liverpool was out of the game in the first half. Before the half-time whistle, they conceded another goal making it 3 - 0. Hernan Crespo scored a brace in the match. While watching the game, I wrote Liverpool off completely because of their performance in the first half.

The second half started and I couldn’t believe my eyes when Liverpool scored their first goal (3-1).

It was a header from Stephen Gerrard. Fantastic. Liverpool is coming up. Before AC Milan could say jack Robinson, Vladimír Šmicer fired a shot that bounced in front of Dida and crept into the right part of the net (3-2). This is becoming interesting. I was right on my seat optimistic about Liverpool equalizing. I’m not a Liverpool fan, but I love them. I didn’t hate AC Milan either because some of my favorite players were in the team as at then.

I was disappointed seeing AC Milan losing their opportunity. The rough defender (Gattuso) pushed Stephen Gerrard in the 18 box in the 59th minute, and it was a penalty for Liverpool. Oh my God! What the hell is happening to AC Milan. I didn’t believe my eyes. Xabi Alonso took the penalty for Liverpool. Dida stretched and parried the ball out into the box. Alonso was faster to kick again, and that was a goal (3-3). Liverpool scored three goals within 6 minutes. I wondered what would go on in the mind of AC Milan players. What happened within that short time confirmed that Liverpool didn’t walk alone to Istanbul. The match ended 3-3 at the end of the second half and after extra time.

Penalty shootout

In the penalty shootout, Serginho first played for AC Milan and he misses. Hamann took a nice shot and scored for Liverpool. Pirlo also came and missed his. Eventually, Andrea Shevchenko missed for AC Milan and that was the end of the match. Liverpool became the 2005 champion. In history of the UEFA Champions League, there has never been 3 goals come back to victory. Liverpool created a history which till now hasn’t been broken.

Have you given up?

Many times, we give up easily on things. AC Milan was better, but Liverpool triumphed. They were determined. I will continue to go with the saying that determination and self-control is the key to success. If you continue to push, it will eventually shift. If you see a blacksmith beating one part on an iron, he’s definitely looking to get something (a shape) from it. Never give up.

I celebrated Liverpool

Yes, it was fun watching the match and seeing them come from behind to lift the trophy. I took myself out the next day and had fun with some friends (Liverpool fans). The same thing happened in the 2018/2019 season where Liverpool trashed Tottenham in the finals. Currently, Liverpool is the defending champion. I love Liverpool. They never walk alone when most are expected of them.

Thanks for reading.

This is ckole (the laughing gas)
