Car racing is the sport that is practiced with cars. In most modalities, cars must complete a route in the shortest possible time, or travel a circuit as many times in a fixed time. There are other disciplines that have different objectives, for example drifting, where pilots must perform spectacular skids.

Car racing is one of the most popular shows in the world and some competitions, such as the Formula, have more fans than many other sports. It is also the one that moves more money, involving a large number of companies, manufacturers, athletes, engineers and sponsors. Engineers develop the latest technologies in engines, aerodynamics, suspension and tires to achieve maximum performance; These advances have benefited the automotive industry, with radial tires and turbochargers, as well as other advances.

The history of motor racing covers from the birth of the first automobile races at the end of the 19th century to the present. It is strongly linked to the birth and development of the automotive industry.

The first races were held in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The competitions were adventures carried out by the richest sectors of society that could afford to acquire a vehicle and participate in them or, like the Monte Carlo Rally in the beginning, it was more a concentration and exhibition of vehicles by wealthy classes as entertainment and not as a pure competition. Over the years, racing on open roads posed a danger to participants and the alternative was, on the one hand, the use of closed circuits (such as Formula 1) and on the other, competing on sections of roads closed to road traffic (as in rallies ). Car racing has been a demonstration of man for his passion for speed.

The first car races began shortly after the creation of the first car with gasoline and were made in Europe and mostly in France, with Paris as its goal.
