Splinterlands: Put Maggots Among Your Ranks

Greetings, Steemians...

🌟It is Weekly Challenge Time🌟

This is my submission in SHARE YOUR BATTLE Weekly Challenge.

This week's theme is MAGGOTS

LORE

Maggots can typically grow out of old food, a result of the laid eggs of flies. In the death Splinter of Mortis, however, maggots simply wriggle out of the ground. It’s as if the entire surface of Mortis is one huge piece of rotting meat. This phenomenon has yet to be studied by the scientists of Khymeria, Lyveria or Azmaré, but what interest have the living in the dead lands?.
Introduction of Opportunity ability has changed the dynamics of battles quite a lot. MAGGOTS are common death monsters with Opportunity ability. They are (like most opportunity monsters) weak on health, but at level 6 the Scavenger ability makes them a big threat.

My Entry

This was a 29 mana battle with two rules: Healed Out and Reverse Speed. I choose to play with dragon splinter using death monsters. My emphasis was on using opportunity ability to the fullest.

Team Selection and Placement

I used DARIA DRAGONSCALE summoner because I wanted to give all my opportunity monsters +1 melee attack.

I placed LORD ARIANTHUS upfront because it can sock every kind of attack and also reflect magic. Perfect low cost card to place in front.

MANTICORE came one down, on its usual position. I am planning on further upgrading MANTICORE, giving it melee attack of 3. Imagine having Manticore with attack of 5(+2 boast from summoner and inspire ability).

MAGGOTS were placed on thired position because of the opportunity ability. I wish to upgrade it to level 6 in order to have scavenge ability.

Dragon Jumper_lv1.png
Next, I placed DRAGON JUMPER as he is one of the most powerful opportunity monsters in all the lands.

I used PHANTOM SOLDIER on second last. Strong magic attack, decent health and most important Silence ability to lower enemy's magic attack, what's not to like.

On the very last, I used FURIOUS CHICKEN, since I had card slots left unoccupied. FURIOUS CHICKEN is a perfect candidate for first or last card, as it costs nothing and indeed provides small cushion to your team.

Remarks

This was an easy battle as the enemy was too weak for me(not a worthy opponent). PHANTOM SOLDIER took care of the enemy's magic attack and my two opportunity monsters quickly ate the enemy's back.

MAGGOTS are good addition to death splinter but to make them worth adding to your team, they need to have scavenge ability and summoner boost.

Nice post. I really do love your formatting. So easy to follow.

And yes, once you level up those maggots they are pretty hardcore for only 3 mana. When in the perfect setting they are a force!
