Splinterlands Fantasy Story and Music Contest --- The wolves, a shamanic tale

avatar

Greetings, people from @steemmonsters, @battlegames and @steem-ace.

I will tell this story for participate in the SteemMonsters Story Contest.

I will write about a wise old tale that the Shaman of the Order of Paladins (Divine Healer) always passes to the younger paladins.

This was a dialogue between the wisest of the paladin order and a young apprentice:

One night he told about what happens inside people:

He said:

“The battle takes place between two wolves within each of us. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, smugness, sadness, hatred, greed, arrogance. self-pity, resentment, inferiority, lies, pride, superiority and ego.
The other is Good. It is joy, peace. Love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

The grandson thought about this for a minute and then asked his grandfather:

  • And which one is the winner?

And old Cherokee simply answered:

  • The one you feed ...

The Cherokee Indian told this story to his grandson so that he can understand the difference between good and evil, right and wrong that live in constant struggle in our mind, because if he was not aware of such a struggle, he would be living permanently in a great tumult.
To prevent him from ever seeing that all that he fought for and thought was right is ultimately wrong, and that when he wins in life he is not unknowingly weak, overcome, sad, lost, confused and afraid.

It's like there are two big wolves living inside me; one is white and the other is black. The white wolf is good, kind and does not hurt anyone. He lives in harmony with everything around him and is not offended if the intention was not to offend. The good, sensible, right wolf of who he is and what he is capable of, fights only when this is the right thing to do and when he needs to protect himself or his family, and even then he does it the right way. He takes care of all the other pack wolves and never deviates from his nature.

"But there is the black wolf too, which lives inside me, and that wolf is very different." He is noisy, angry, displeased, jealous and fearful. Just one thing will make him fury. He fights with everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think clearly, because his greed for ever more and his anger and anger are too great. But it is fruitless anger, son, because it changes nothing. This wolf only looks for confusion wherever he goes, and so always finds it. He doesn't trust anyone, so he has no real friends.

“Sometimes it's hard to live with these two wolves inside me, because they fight so hard to overpower my spirit, and when making decisions, when only one can win, it will be the one who is best fed who wins.
But still the other wolf comes back, as it is not possible to feed only one.

  • Both win. If I choose to feed only the white wolf, the black wolf will be on the prowl, waiting for the moment when I get out of balance or get too busy to pay attention to my responsibilities, and then attack the white wolf and cause a lot of trouble for me and our tribe. . He will always live in anger and fight to attract the attention he so longs for. But if I pay a little attention to the black wolf, understanding his nature, if I recognize him as the powerful force he is and let him know that I respect him for his character and I will use him to help me one day. me or the tribe are in trouble, he will be happy, and the white wolf will be happy too, and both will win. We will all win.

Then the grandson asked:

  • But how can the two win?

Then the grandfather continued with the explanation:

“Notice, the black wolf has many important qualities that I may need, depending on the circumstances. He is fierce, determined, and will not be subdued for a second. He is intelligent, cunning and capable of the most devious thoughts and strategies, which is important in wartime. He has keen and superior senses that only those who look through the darkness can appreciate. In the midst of an attack, he could be our greatest ally.

Grandfather took some pieces of smoked meat from his bag and set them on the floor, one on the right and one on the left. He pointed to the flesh and said;

“On my left is the food for the white wolf and on my right is the food for the black wolf. If I choose to feed them both, they will no longer fight for my attention, and I can use each of them as needed. And since there will be no war between them, I will be able to hear the voice of my deep wisdom and choose which one can best help me in every circumstance. If your grandmother wants meat for a special meal and I didn't take care of it as I should, I can ask the white wolf to lend me her magic and comfort her grandmother's black wolf, who will be angry and hungry. The white wolf always knows what to say and will help me be more sensitive to her needs.

  • If you understand the existence of these two great forces within you and respect both in the same way, both will win and there will be peace.

Peace, my son, is the mission of the Cherokee - The supreme purpose of life.

A man who has peace within himself has everything. A man torn by war within him has nothing.

You are a young man who needs to choose how he will deal with the opposing forces within him. Your decision will determine the quality of the rest of your life. And when one of the wolves needs special attention, which will happen sometimes, you have nothing to be ashamed of; you can simply admit it to the elders and get the help you need.

When this is public knowledge, those who have already fought this same battle can offer you their wisdom.

I hope you enjoyed this story and see you in the next post.

Have a good game!
