A lot of people have been misled by social media, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook topping the lists of an alternate life/platform where reality is overly ignored. Nobody showcases their failures and sufferings, or maybe a few set of people do, but are overlooked, the fake riches and flamboyant lives that comes with a good location and perhaps a good camera with excellent picture quality made a lot of people you least expected forego rational thinking and embrace irrational way of life.

My former boss posted on his LinkedIn page about being under 40years of age and having close to a hundred staff across the country, but he never hinted on how he underpays them and deprives them of their bonuses and entitlements. Same guy posts on his Facebook and Instagram page about his Globetrotting, while he sometimes goes two months without paying his staff wages while he tours the world. Sadly, there are thousands if not millions like him that others envy and look up to, they even want to dress and look like him/them (in the case of celebrities and stars). Unfortunately, a standard was only set for the populace, the reality is way contradicting to what is been depicted on social media platforms.

Nevertheless, there are a few icons and true humanity Heroes out there that are worthy of emulation, they live up to the standard they created for themselves. Not owing their staffs, paying entitlements when due without delays, helping friends and family without defrauding them physically and or emotionally. In addition, there are the ones who based their own love life and relationship on the standard they embrace from these social platforms, making you wonder how Aliens(if they truly exist) would scorn us at how gullible as humans we can be.

What happens on these apps is an indication of how powerful a tool social engineering is. No doubt, we all have been influenced at one time or another, the level of manipulations might vary based on our individual willpower and rational thinking. Therefore, the living standard set across these social platforms will continue to have effects on daily activities of anyone dummy enough to not snap back into reality!
