My California : My Road Trip Through Merced
Hello lovely Steemians !
I had a lot of great moments during my time in California, such as my trip to Yosemite that I already presented several weeks ago for you. Today I want to present to you the last day of that trip. Instead of directly driving back to Los Angeles I decided to stop by in Merced to enjoy the classical road trip feeling that we all here in europe have in mind if we think america. And this was an excellent decission !! .. I had an amazing time with those two fellows here ^^
When I left the bus from the park I firs decided to stop by a diner and get myself a huge burger. I found that nice diner here and ordered that amazing Bacon Jalapeno Flagship .. I have to admit, you guys over there in America know for sure how a burger has to be .. and your waiters are soo super friendly and courteous !!
Close to the Diner I found that Motel here. It looked like one from the movies and I directly took a room for the night.
Then it was time to explore the nighlife of the city. I walked around a bit and entered this street here .. It was a weird street indeed and I saw things there talked to people that really confused me and that I better do not post here, but let me tell you this .. Merced ranks for one of the worst cities in crime in Amerika ;)
Later on the night I found this mysterious building. It had a cage at the front, but there was musik in there and I was curious so I checked it out and it was worth it. It was a bar ! There were televisions with sport, musik boxes, native beer sort, pool tables, dart boards and amazing people in there !!
I directly befriended with those two guys here. One of them was the husband of the lady that run the place and we started to talk the wjole night about culture, politics and everything that came us in mind. I got quite a good picture about how people in america think, what is important for them and heard about their worries and problems.
As they were running the place and were so super friendly and courteous they were sponsoring me one beer after the other. They were quite amazed to see how much beer fits in a german guy ^^ .. Here are the two I liked the most. Most of the beers were IPA's , Indian Pale Ales, which we do not drink in Germany so it was a lot of fun to try all of them out. My favorite one was the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale a regional one ^^ .. They even drove me to my Motel in the end ;)
I stoped in Merced to experience a classical road trip night after Yosemite and I totally had one. An amazing Burger at a Diner, a classical stay in the motel also I did not sleep there, a walk through the criminal szene at night and an amazing night in a bar with the best accompanimemt that I could imagine !! ..I will always remeber it .. and if you are interested in the trip to Yosemite you can find it here :

That Sierra Nevada is made about 10 minutes from my house. Glad you made it through safely.
Hi there ^^ .. you are a lucky one to have it so close to you .. I hope that you like that beer too and that it is not only one that taste a foreigner which never drank ipa's before ;) .. I got a little strange feeling when I passed through there and experienced some weird stuff, thats true, but I am also lucky that nothing bad happened ^^ .. thank you for stoping by at my post ;)
I am not a big IPA fan. Some is much to hoppy fir me. I prefer a Weihenstephaner Hefe Weiss.

It was at the Siesta Motel and the ones close to it that you can see in the picture .. I met someone with only one leg who wanted to sell me some meth, he told me it was shot off by a shotgun in a fight. There were quite a few offers like that from various people in this region. Also the Motels were used in a kind of different way than you would asume. They were for used for "the oldes buisness of humankind" and for people who just needed a place to go on their trips. There were also lots of weird people standing in the corners watching everyone really close and obviously. I also peeked at two guns in total. It kind of felt like in a typical movie there. Also the police stoped by and told me kindly to better not walk around in that area at such a time. The people in the bar also warned me to not walk bavk drunk as I easily will be robbed or might get shot if a try to protest in such a case so they drove me back to my motel after that great night in the bar

We have a city about 30 minutes from my house and you describe it well.
Even in my little town the effects of Meth are evident.
It sounds very fortunate that you were able to keep safe.

Overall was you experiance good despite the strange people?
Ohh yeah .. it was a great experience .. I actually found it quite interesting to see that face of america too .. that kind of completed the overall experience .. in the end I actually stoped in merced to get that typical feeling .. and next to nice dinners, nights in motels and bars this also belongs to it in a way ^^
How long were you on the US? I hope you saw the prettier face of the country as well?
I surely did ;) .. Yosemite was my absolute favorite, but I really liked JPL and all the hiking trails around Los Angeles .. there is soo much beautiful nature all around California ^^ I really would like to go back there once ;)
I would like to see Yosemite someday myself.
