Smartsteem Open Beta
We've completely rewritten everything from scratch with a focus on making it as sexy and smooth to use as possible, mixed in some magic sauce and launched the first minimal viable version for open beta. This includes our first initial 3 Steem apps.
We'll go more in detail about each of them very soon, but here's a quick overview:

Open Beta Info
We're starting this beta out with some requirements.
In order for you to use the apps (except Earn), you need to have at least 500 effective Steempower (incl delegated Steempower) or 25 SmartPoints.
This is most likely subject to change, in both directions

Does the Steempower we delegate help us earn curation rewards, or just the SmartPoints?
Indirectly. You'll earn SmartPoints in the first place, which can help you to increase your curation rewards due to preference when following curation trails based on the amount of SmartPoints someone has.
Besides that, SmartPoints will have multiple more utility functions, but that's just a matter of time.

What is SmartPoints?
I'm new to the platform and it's super exciting that there are ways to earn more Steem, but I'm a little lost.
What about if you want to have your alt accounts use this service—do they need to delegate as well?
We're already looking into it. Delegating for your alt-accounts wouldn't be that smart, especially if the main account has more than enough SmartPoints.

Wow! Congratulations to the Smartsteem Team for this wonderful initiative. I was about asking if the minimum delegation was 5k Steem but upon visiting the website I realized that it could be lower.
However, every attempt to login was unsuccessful. I don't know what's wrong anyway. I hope that I overcome that hurdle on my end here.
Also, I hope that Smartpoints will have more use cases as the days unfolds. Cheers!
We're currently only supporting Keychain login. We'll be implementing posting-key login as well as steemconnect most-likely. Are you using Keychain and you still experience an error?

I very much agree on the downvotes. There are a lot of people on Steem that believe in downvotes and think it will somehow be a good thing. Sadly, these people do not seem to understand that the only reason Steem has value is that it had the potential to be a platform that could protect free speech and counter censorship.
Instead, these folks implement a strong flagging culture, which yes, can clean up some trash. But the key flaw with downvotes is that it can be used to shut down opinions that dissent from the norm all the most viewpoint of the most staked. This results in an environment where you are incentivized to agree with the majority, which will inevitably generate extreme and limited minds.
People have to be able to speak freely and without risk of attack to their livelihood (demonetization/deplatforming), and while Steem is designed to not deplatform you, it is absolutely designed to demonetize you if your view is ideologically opposed by enough members with considerable stake.

Please help a poor monster: I have 505 Steem Power delegated but am not able to use any of the services besides "earn". The possibilities for manual curation are amazing and I would love to test it.

Do you have Keychain? We're going to implement steemconnect, but keychain is our recommended tool.
I am not able to login using keychain.
Which password exactly!? The main Steem password doesn't work and neither the active one.
Keychain is asking for a password to unlock your wallet, this isn't any key.

At first glance this looks similar to steem auto. The follow tabs are just for my account to follow other accounts?What's the value add for smart points then? Is it related to the curate tab? You are just executing my own autovote faster because I own more smartpoints? So in short, you are seeking a delegation to perform manual curation and are rewarding people by performing preferential automated curation for them? Can you clarify?
Nice tool, would be prefer the option to toggle to a light theme instead of the dark layout :-)
We understand and appreciate your feedback. For now, we'll stick with the dark-theme for aesthetic purposes as yellow/gold isn't looking good in a light theme.
cool update, but I have a question: so the smartpoints give an advantage over other users who also use smartsteem? If that's the case, it's not so useful as there are lots of other ways to automatically vote. Also 5000 SP is quite a hurdle, giving the edge to whales...
That's the first use-case. Our focus was on launching the platform in order to retire our promotion services. More use-cases to come.

thats great .. thx for the reply and support. I guess the challenge for most projects which creates their own tokens are how to bring value to the token. looking forward in seeing more details on how you would do it with Smartpoints. I've got an idea which I hope you could possibly consider.
Smartpoints can be used just like what SPS is like however for smaller scaled funds like if I wanted to run a meetup .. I would raise a proposal and people who have been staking Smartpoints are able to vote on that proposal. Those who has gardner enough votes on their proposal would be able to receive upvotes on their post for X number of weeks or duration based on their little "project".
You are then empowering individuals / community members to be able to know that Smartsteem is supporting smaller smaller scale projects / meetups / initiatives .
That's just an idea ... cheers and looking forward in more things to come from your end.

My current situation: I have 30000 SP. If I delegate 5000 SP, I lose curation rewards, but gain 'Smart Points.' These Smart Points position my vote before other votes in a trail? If my vote is positioned before other votes, but I'm down 5000 SP, I fail to see how that positioning would give me equal to or more curation reward compared to if I simply kept my 30000 SP and voted on my own.
Are the curation rewards Smart Steem earns through these delegations split between those who've delegated?
No, due to the 13 weeks power-down period. That's why we decided to use SmartPoints. Keep in mind that the main goal we had was to provide a useful platform for Steem. Earning Steem via delegations for SmartPoints wasn't our main goal, it's rather a positive side effect.
There's no guarantee that you will make more curation rewards, compared to voting without SmartPoints. It's also important to note that we can only take care of how fast the votes go out from our end, not how long it takes for the RPC nodes to process them. This can result in a partly randomized order.
However, let's say you delegate 5000 SP for 1 month (+5 days CD), you'd earn 150 SmartPoints, more than the majority of the users.
Last but not least, our goal is to provide more utilities for SmartPoints than just preferred voting. This is simply the first feature we implemented. So please don't judge SmartPoints too quickly, as they haven't nearly reached their final usability.
Fear not. I won't be making any conclusions until I see a finished product along with results. Just had a few questions is all.

Your goals were misplaced. No one wanted you to convert your service into a "platform for steem." We came to you to sell our votes, whether by delegation or vote-selling. You're attempting to get into a game that no one truly cares to have you in. Your userbase was only there because of your services provided prior to the new HF. Majority of us WILL NOT use your services for daily/day-to-day STEEM usage. We already have plenty of front-ends with plenty of capability for that. We don't need another token either. There are plenty. We only used your service as a way to make use of our extra power to gain STEEM/SBD, not tokens of some sort.
You've alienated the userbase like myself because you are changing the entire point of why people like me ever used your service to begin with. You are not going to gain me as a user to just another front-end service with "cool different tools/functionalities!" it's just fucking stupid. I don't want your service as such. It was meant to be used as a tool for profiting on otherwise lost power, to people like me. Going in this direction you are currently going, is going to make people like me not use your service AT ALL, as opposed to using it as we used to (before you fucked it up with all this stupid bullshit.) do before the HF.
You won't listen to this though and you'll blindly and arrogantly proceed forward with your stupid idea. At this point it's clear that your userbase means very little to you. The rate you've been losing users isn't apparent to you because you don't seem to understand that people like me (With this exception, because I cared a little more, having used your service before and loved it...) won't even bother to leave negative feedback to let you know you're fucking shit up. They'll just leave. That's why you think you're doing "So well" and have such "great feedback." It's all bullshit. Unbalanced, biased, bullshit. Are Smart Points balances Public? I'd like to know how many Smart Points all members have before I invest so I can know if I have a chance to get a good voting position or if I will just always be behind chasing a carrot since many members have already been loading up on Smart Points.
This is a subscription based curation service.
I do like seeing the lower sp limit as it stops spam accounts and beginners who really should learn the ropes organically at first from using the service.
This looks like an autovoting service, very similar to several other auto voting services except vote priority is given to users based on how much money they delegate to this service.
Streem might be similar to other available services, but Smartsteem is like an app-store, providing many different kinds of applications in the future.

Self proclaimed community watchdogs are actually hacking and stalking people.
This group https://steemit.com/@steemspeak is ran by https://steemit.com/@fyrstikken, They are hacking people that enter this discord server https://discordapp.com/invite/sqxV63P . Once you are hacked they profile you long enough to know all of your activities. They introduce workplace gangstalking visits and bring it to your attention cleverly and discretely so only you get it. They are very covert and tricky with everything they say and do in this server. Some claim to have worked for or are working with the FBI and the NSA. Mixed with decommissioned traders and coding criminals, Its a scary mix of creepy people and their intent is to drive you crazy and deplete everything you have ever acquired in life, even your freedom.
My hacking started with them introducing ransomware that has options, dump my coin or delete my system drive. They acknowledged this to me in the server as it happened.
This hacking and stalking is done so they can manipulate the target to pump and dump for them. Threatening and Making victims wear head phones, so nobody in your household can hear thier dramatization towards you. In 2017 this server was side marked as a drama show for entertainment purposes only as an excuse to say whatever they want all the way down to killing a politician. They have a server side command called "hey asshole" making a prompt come up instructing everyone to wear headphones. They want everyone wearing headphones so nobody in your vicinity can hear them mess with you. Fystikken says its because of "mic feedback" but once your a target you get exactly why they make everyone wear headphones.
With headphones on they subliminally direct victims with very low suggestive whispers mixed into their radio shows music. Combine this with them being able to manipulate their own individual outputs sound volume, which they control on the server side, they can pick what individual people hear at any given time. They decide who you hear on the server and change the volume controls for them. They can make some really low or off for those trying to investigate. They control who hears what and know who is who.
This team will find absolutely everything they can about you prior to using their suggestive and threatening program. They Introduce pictures that mean something only to the target, inducing paranoia while they watch and listen thru all of your circumvented devices. They are very aware of what makes you tick. They know your work schedule and use it for work stalking along side of this. I received multiple threatening letters to my work and home addressed to my screen name from this group.
Fyrstikken tells people they are drafted like they did with Facebook at the beginning. He says Facebook was started by forced labor and V2K controlled slaves, just like he creates with his gang for steem and crypto. "Get to work bitch" he tells people once circumvented and intimidated.
If your an agent Investigating them, guess what? You are circumvented. They are high tech, over funded and well connected.

Are you referring to the manual approval process? We've just now fixed a problem which prevented those votes from going out. The automatic voting should work for sure.

Claiming Steem-engine rewards seems like a feature I'd try... It's such a chore to do manually.
Could people who actively curate and make effort towards finding quality content reply to this comment with what tags they focus on so people could explore your feeds to see if they want to follow your votes. Or recommed curators as well!

You removed the only thing your service was good for. Now I have no reason to use your service. The point of vote selling was that I did not have to delegate power to you and lose that power for a period of time if I chose to un-delegate. I also don't want to earn your shitty tokens with it either, I want to be paid in STEEM/SBD.
I think you could have adjusted for the new model and still done vote selling, but you probably were more worried about a model that would profit yourselves more and would be easier. Pretty fucking pathetic tbh. A poor way to have adjusted to the climate imo. Not only are you reaping the curation rewards with us having delegated to your shitty service, you aren't going to pay us the entirety of what our vote is worth to begin with.
Pretty sad day to log back in after all the chaos and see one of my (old) favorite services go to such a shitty model. How does this related to my dungeons and dragons gold, my frequent flier miles, and my arcade parlor tokens? If I power up my Wow-tokens to 50% do I get the SBD bonus and the +1 Steem power coins? Then when I redeem and cross-nullify my Weed-Cash-Coins and my Beer tokens, and delegate at least 500 Tokenpower to each witness, I get 200 free Laundry Medallions!!
