Well it’s not that new anymore, but #newsteem has obviously completely changed the game.
Been lots of talk in the community lately about communities, SMTs, SPS voting, etc. and I just wanted to put it out there if you are curious about what’s going on in your steemit neighborhood get on discord and listen to some of these chat sessions that are being held consistently and attended by many great Steemians (and some not so great, just kidding!)
I’ve been listening to @themarkymark’s show “Marky On Air” (recordings) for a while now and there is always great information about steem/steemit on there. You can catch it live in PAL Discord channel.
I also heard @crimsonclad’s chat is really good for information, I have yet to make a show but I will try to catch one in the future. Her show is also one mspwaves.
The witness chat with @shadowspub in the Ramble held once a month, I believe, and I listened in a bit last night and it was very interesting. One of the steem devs was on and lost his shit a little bit which It was pretty funny. There are always several witnesses there so you are sure to glean some useful knowledge if you tune in.
The Ramble also hosts a few other topics on voice chat so you can always find something.
One other voice chat I try to catch every week is @innerblocks chat. They are a curation group ran by @freedompoint and @stacied. They always have a very knowledgeable and interesting perspective on what's going on. Plus it's a fun time to hang out and communicate with everyone. Here is the link to @innerblocksdiscord.
Like @themarkymark said in his last “On Air” episode most of the great communication is happening on discord right now and not on the blockchain.
It's hard to get these great discussions on posts or in the comment section, it just doesn't work out too well. If you're lucky enough to receive a comment on a post usually it's one and the commenter is gone on to the next.
My point is, if you're interested in what is going on and want to have a little fun too, unfortunately, for now, you have to go outside the blockchain and into discord. Maybe that will change when communities launch, probably not or at least it will take a long time.
It's already way past my bedtime but be sure to check some of these out. If you know of any others please let me know.
