@ecency this is not correct , if I read well than I can ask you to correct something that isn't NSFW to a NSFW blog and tag. This is a free speech platform, when someone is vonurable enough to make a blog and share feelings and even rant that's not wrong or not suitable, it would have been when he did it naked and shared the image of the naked rant online. But freedom of share and speech is a nesseccity on hive so if @ecency is like that well than I have to rethink my love for it and maybe not use it in my onboarding message. So please leave me a comment and tell me what your step in this will be next week, so I can make my decision based on freedom of share and speech online.

@savvyplayer we never met but I don't like the fact you are tagging people and begging , MUTE or UNFOLLOW will exclude this blog from your feed and if you are a person claiming you can remove freedom of speech on this platform by not informing correctly well that might not be NSFH --> suitable for hive

@brittandjosie, I strongly believe you misunderstand me on multiple points.

  1. I just made a recommendation that the post be tagged as #nsfw, since it is something you do not want others to see while you are viewing it. I am not forcing anyone (the original author or platform developers) to mark the post as #nsfw.
  2. I never said that the original author has no right to publish sensitive posts like that. I believe in his right to publish what comes to his mind (especially on a free speech platform like Hive), while I also believe I have the right to make my feedback to his post.
  3. @ecency is NOT going to censor the original author @stayten's post - they are only going to prevent the posts from authors the user muted from showing up on the "Promoted" section of the #Ecency front-end feed. I did not tell @ecency to censor the post Ecency-wide whatsoever.
  4. I don't see anything wrong with tagging people, especially when they are relevant to the post. My comment tagging @ecency is also very far from "begging" (see #3). You might not have noticed that I said that the post gets promoted on the Ecency feed even though I muted the author of the sensitive post.
  5. I never claimed that I can remove freedom of speech on Hive (see #2). To be brief - I just recommended that the post to be marked as #nsfw by the author @stayten (whose refusal I acknowledge), and the post to not show up on my Ecency feed after muting the author.

There might be misunderstanding. We never said we will mute/censor anyone, we said we will fix the bug related to muting functionality. If you mute someone then only you don't see their content, others will continue to see, just like you following someone and only you will see their content, not your followers, etc... it already works same way in other frontends.

Not all NSFWs are sexual posts. It also includes sensitive posts that are not suitable for being seen in public.

While your comment was definitely more #nsfw than the original post, I did not mind it because it does not keep showing up on my #Ecency feed every few minutes. Although your comment should have been tagged as #nsfw, I don't think that you can apply tags different from the original post in most (if not all) Hive frontends.

The Ecency team is currently developing a fix to prevent posts from muted accounts to show up on a user's feed when promoted using the Ecency Promotion feature. (https://ecency.com/@ecency/re-savvyplayer-202151t102941666z)

And you cannot decide if this is nsfw or not. And the fact you tagged Ecency and others is also not correct. If you don’t like it don’t follow , and only when you scroll it appears. And another tip maybe you shouldn’t open the blog while at work that will save you some trouble maybe.

I think AND THERE EVEN IS A RANT COMMUNITY that if somebody is brave enough to tell inner feelings and issues it’s to short sighted to just tell its nsfw , and I could have agreed with you that if the RANT WAS DONE NAKED and it was shared online YOU WOULD HAVE BEEN RIGHT. Ummm, well yeah. That's what #FreeSpeech is, the ability to say things that other people don't like.

  1. My understanding is that nudity & violence constitutes #NSFW.

  1. I definitely agree with what is on wikipedia.org/wiki/Not_safe_for_work regarding #nsfw.
  2. I did not say that just because something is unusual, it is NSFW.
  3. There are also certain text (not just the images) on the original author's post that are #nsfw (at least for me), though I don't want to quote them directly for obvious reasons.
  4. Objective criteria such as nudity and graphic violence are definitely NSFW, but NSFW content is not limited to those two.
  5. I recommended the post be tagged as #nsfw not just because I don't agree or like it, but because it would be offensive for at least some people like me.
  6. My criteria for NSFW is any sensitive content I would not like anybody else to know I am looking at, not only at the workplace (as the word 'W' in NSFW says) but at places where there are kids (who are much younger than me).
  7. I know that it is harder to understand that nudity or violence which is just placed in text is also #nsfw.

The Wikipedia link you sent uses subjective criteria again, and its something that we want to replace, since Web 2.0 companies like Twitter use subjective criteria to censor people.

The marked content may contain nudity, intense sexuality, political incorrectness, profanity, slurs, violence or other potentially disturbing subject matter.

I didn't see any of the above in the post we are talking about @savvyplayer, and I think it is a bad idea to consider content that is "Politically Incorrect" as #NSFW since political correctness is often a result of propaganda, and I don't think that should be used as a standard.

I am a hybrid type. I love butterflies and flowers and I love the dark. Meditation and love, horror and bravery. One could say that I am a strange example of modern day balance - yin/yang - black and white - dark and light - love and hate - pain and comfort.

My @kikicat is similar. She loves dark art. From the youngest of her age, she preferred "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Frankeneaney" and "Coraline" (before I even inspired her to love dark art ... that was all on her).

I think that KiKi Bear would love your posts which is why I have unmuted you. After Mom-vestigating, I have seen nothing that I think is unacceptable. This is kind of her thing. Some people just love the beauty of the dark. Without those very people we wouldn't have the art, books, movies, (stories) an so on, that we do.

The world is beautiful - in light and in dark. In pain and in comfort. This is our truth. I allow my child to embrace and love it in a healthy way. <3
