Sonic Groove Live, Week 5, Jesu der du meine Seele (original)

avatar

This is my entry for the Sonic Groove Live contest, week 5. This time I play a composition of my own, a choral prelude on the melody of "Jesu der du meine Seele". It is not my first performance of this composition on the Steem blockchain. I played ir a few months ago for @organduo's Secrets of Organ Playing contest (https://steempeak.com/dtube/@partitura/gj4jqywqtoe). My performance today is quite a bit faster than three months ago. I was in a bit of a hurry to finish the recording before my kids would come home from school... :-)

The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset the Transept organ in the Laurenskerk, Rotterdam, made by Sonus Paradisi.

An impeccable, clean, beautiful performance! In addition to demonstrating a great mastery of the Baroque, it has the merit of being an original theme! Congratulations! 👏 👏 👏

Thanks for the compliments. The choral theme is of course not so original (several hundreds years old). The rest however is my own invention. Though you could say it is not so original either as it is firmly inspired by Bach’s cantata BWV 78, specifically the aria Wir eilen mit schwachen, doch emsigen Schritten.
Every organist is for ever indebted to Bach...
