Now that we are in the golden age of superheroes it is normal to find series and movies of all kinds where superheroes are seen in different ways, but always highlighting the positive aspects that any hero has. We have seen superheroes of different origins, with different powers and even with varied personalities where some are even more violent, however, what we had not seen is the commercial and more realistic side of heroes, heroes placed in more real environments where we see how they behave in normal environments, well luckily The Boys do it. This is a series that allows us to explore the most human aspect of superheroes, a series that shows us the worst face of people behind a cape, and best of all is told with black humor and tremendous violence.

The Boys is one of the series that most unexpectedly catches me, the series is totally exciting, thrilling and full of wonderful humor that transports us to a totally bizarre world where superheroes are no longer on that pedestal that other movies have shown us. The series transports us to a totally satirical and burlesque world, yes, the series shamelessly mocks the heroes and the companies behind them (Marvel and DC), showing us their true behavior, or rather how they would behave in a more commercial world. The plot of this series allows us to see heroes as a species of divas and superstars who handle the world at will, people who are not only famous and loved for their heroic acts but also because they participate in public events and that even have merchandising.

The whole plot of the series is developed through the coexistence of heroes and normal people who must constantly kneel down and fulfill any desire the heroes ask. Basically the series begins by showing us what the dynamic in this world of corrupted heroes is like, through the suffering of a young man who has just been traumatized after his girlfriend was murdered by one of the most recognized heroes in the world when he was high and unable to control his powers, yes, here heroes also get high, after all, they are basically divas/artists/superstars. That death is basically the trigger of the main plot of the story and from there we see how a plan of revenge is set in motion to end the abuses of these heroes and give them a lesson in humility so that they learn a little of all the evil they do behind the scenes.

This is undoubtedly an addictive series, through the chapters we will see more of this world where the heroes are advised by a great company that besides controlling them also protects them from their darkest acts and perversions, always covering the negative acts that they do to protect their reputation. All the development of the series is done under a fantastic premise where we feel that tense atmosphere of revenge and suspense built around some really great characters, characters that we hate at times but also love and want to come out victorious. This is perhaps the first time that I support those who are on the other side of the battlefield, the series manages to build in a great way that frivolity that makes us feel disgusted by the heroes to see how they constantly abuse normal people using their skills to take advantage of any kind of situation.

Without a doubt, this is one of the best series I have seen this year, a series that has almost no low point and instead is made with such detail that it constantly traps us in this visually violent world. The whole visual aspect is fantastic because it complements in a great way a violent plot, intense and with a drama that is complemented in a great way by a tremendous satire to heroism. Here we will see a dose of hard and pure realism that brings us closer to what would be the reality of heroes in today's society where social networks are those who turn something good or bad.
