Last week I watched the sequel to one of my favorite comedy films: Borat, also known as "Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan". This sequel was entitled: "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan". It is a direct continuation of the first film, a few years after the first one, it continues the adventures of Borat, a character created and masterfully played by Sacha Baron Cohen, Borat being one of many excellent and comical characters he has played for several years.
The news that a second Borat movie would be released, took us all by surprise, since this movie was being made in total secrecy and although some months ago videos of the actor playing his mythical character had been uploaded to the internet on the streets of the United States, it was only recently that a new movie was officially confirmed.
As a sequel Borat 2 is quite good, it keeps that characteristic humor, dark, obscene and even absurd humor that we could see in the first film, so it keeps much of the essence that people like so much. However, comparing it to the first movie, Borat 2, despite being really entertaining, does not surpass the first movie and I think that is because when the first Borat movie was made very few people knew this character or the actor, so it was easier for Sacha Baron Cohen to play his character and see people's reactions to such "character", Currently the actor and the character are quite well known, so in comparison to the first film, there are few reactions and interviews that we will see, and this is something that the actor himself has mentioned in interviews, which really was quite difficult for him since many people knew him on the street.
However, in spite of these details, I am very happy that the humor so characteristic of this character is not lost, especially in the present time, where people complain and get offended by almost anything, and even with things that really don't offend them, they always look for a way to find out how that can have something offensive. Borat 2 is a proof that you can still make a dark and excessive comedy, and although the film evidently is placed on a political side, especially with the upcoming elections in the United States, it does not cease to be an enjoyable film. Both Borat's character and his daughter's are played in a great way, always faithful to their personalities, style and humor.
