September 3, 2020--Practice Blog in the time of the virus

I have been away for a little while, trying to get classes ready and dealing with work issues. So today was the first time I was able to get a recording in. Unfortunately, I made the recording in "Slo-mo" mode and it is not publishable.

It has been a good week, trying to find a nice schedule to get into while the virus is still in full swing here.

The day started with recording a brief 13 minute lecture on music of the Middle Ages (Medieval) and making a breakfast drink. I went to work and tuned a piano (I have got it to under 2 1/2 hours) and practiced organ for a while. Came home for lunch and practiced piano for a couple hours. Went to a rehearsal for a jazz band and discovered I was not needed. So I came home and practiced organ while roasting a chicken. Ate dinner with my wonderful wife and watched some BBC shows (We discovered The Goes Wrong Show on Amazon prime which is a riot.).

On the organ, I practiced BWV 644 in the hopes of recording it tomorrow for SOOP contest. May have to wait until Saturday--it's not quite up to speed. Also worked on the Offertory from Langlais' Suite Medievale--a great meditative piece based on the chants Ubi Caritas and Jesu Dulci. At home, I worked on the Offertory on the Grand Jeux from Couperin's Mass for the Convents. I have been working on it for three weeks (off and on) and will try to get a better recording tomorrow.

On the piano, I worked on two accompaniments for the choir at the school and the cadenza sections of Liszt's Liebestraume.
