September 21, 2020--Practice blog in the time of the virus

I have been feeling like I haven't been working much, even though I can account for every hour of the day and point to what I am doing. Part of it is staying home most of the time, even though I am doing work. In the morning, I worked primarily on writing and recording lecture sections with recordings and a powerpoint presentation for online classes. Twenty five minutes take four and a half hours to do properly. I then ate lunch and practiced piano for an hour and a half. Got a shower (I'm wondering if this is what is bothering me most--not "getting ready for the day" until after 3 pm) and went in to work. Uploaded four days (12 lecture portions) onto learning program and practiced organ for an hour and 15 minutes. Went to choir rehearsal and afterwards went for a brief jog to get the blood moving. Suddenly it is 8 pm and it is time to consider putting everything aside. See? Long day. And I still feel I haven't "worked" properly.

On the organ, I rerecorded BWV 599 in a more "mysterious" setting--slower and with more 8' flutes and strings rather than principal chorus. I also spent some time working on the Benedictus from the Mass for the Convents by Couperin and reworking up the Hindemith Second Sonata.

On the piano, I practiced sight reading in multiple moveable clefs, figured bass reading, and a couple accompaniments for the choir rehearsal. I finished with work on the last movement of Schumann's Piano Concerto.
