December 3, 2021--Variations on a Basque Noel by Carson Cooman

Bringing back a piece from two years ago. These variations are an accessible set for both audiences and performers. The theme is heard at the outset (this recording uses a flute 8', principal 2', and cymbale III) against a 8' flute in the accompaniment and 16' and 8' flutes in the pedals. The theme moves into the left hand in the first variation (theme using a Flute 8' and Fugara 4' against a flute 8' in the accompaniment). The second variation uses a flute 8' and 2' at a slightly faster tempo. The third variation uses a Nachthorn 4' with a Quintade 16' in the pedals. Finally, the final variation I used a large Principal chorus with mixtures and reeds to bring about the sense of finality in the piece.
