Prelude on "Guide Me, O Thou Great Redeemer" (Cwm Rhondda) - Paul Fey | Hauptwerk Savaria
This is my entry for the Secrets of Organ Playing Contest Week 123. I'm playing a Prelude on the Cwm Rhondda hymn tune by Paul Fey.
I've never played this hymn in a service because it's not in any Catholic hymnbooks that I know of. Nevertheless, it's a fantastic tune and perhaps sometime down the track I will be able to play it in a service.
Following the prelude, I play the hymn (3 verses). In the last verse, I play some fragments in unison to provide contrast and then the last phrase is played over the dominant pedal point to create tension before resolution.
