몇 년 동안 저는 암호와 DLT를 이용하여 암호 소유권을 늘리고 그것으로 생계를 유지하는 방법을 배웠습니다. 현존하는 방대한 프로젝트와 갑자기 싹트고 있는 듯한 수백 개의 프로젝트 때문에 하루하루가 여전히 학습 과정입니다.

I have been in the cryptocurrency industry for a little over 2.5 years now and I can generally say that I am truly lucky that I have put in the effort to learn this new industry which has the potential to disrupt the way we do financial transactions in our daily lives.

Learning this new industry took some time and I am glad that I have met a lot of people along the way that has helped me understand the technical aspects of this technology as well as share their valuable experience and insights.

As I learn more about this emerging asset class I realize its immense potential to change lives, especially those who remain marginalized due to unequal financial opportunities. This is the very reason why I wanted to learn and leverage this nascent industry— for a more equitable and inclusive financial opportunity that is only possible by using crypto and its underlying technology— blockchain or its proper name distributed ledger technology (DLT).

What I plan to do and some reminders

Throughout the years I have learned how to utilize crypto and DLT to augment my crypto holdings and earn a living out of them. Every day is still a learning process due to the vast number of projects existing and hundreds more that seem to sprout out of nowhere.

While the number of projects existing and being created daily is a very good sign of a robust and active crypto community it also comes as a challenge to sift through the stream of new information and data in this industry. This is especially true with newbies as they might experience information overload when they try to study and understand it.

This is aggravated by the fact that a lot of misinformation and fake news happens within the crypto community as different projects try to jostle with each other to get the attention of investors, users , and mainstream media. ‌The ‌industry is so competitive that it is not uncommon to see supporters from different projects mudslinging at each other.

That is why it is important to seek guidance from experienced members who have been around to understand what is happening in a particular situation or help neophytes to weed through all the noise and give you valuable information that will enable you an informed decision.

Helping out newbies to find their way through the cryptocurrency jungle is what I am aiming for. I may not be an expert or a certified professional but I believe that I have gained enough experience to at least help out wondering crypto newbies and point them in the right direction.

However, I must stress that none of what I say should be taken as financial or investment advice. Everything that I will be sharing with you must be taken as opinions only and the decision to whether to participate or not must ultimately come from you.

Therefore, I will not, by any means, be responsible for any untoward events that might happen to you or your investment. I am just here to share what I am doing and my thoughts on the different projects in the cryptocurrency community. Ultimately you will be the one responsible if you will participate in any of these activities.

How To Start

I have always believed that the best way to learn new stuff, especially the complicated ones, is through experiencing it first hand, that is why my first instruction to newbies is to get their first bitcoin wallet right away without really explaining what it is.

I believe new users will much more appreciate the value of cryptocurrencies when they experience first hand what they can do with cryptocurrencies including all the conveniences attached to it.

It is likely that I ask them to get an account from Coins.ph if they reside in the Philippines or, Coinbase and Blockchain wallet if they reside outside my country of residence. Coins.ph is the most widely used crypto wallet in the Philippines with over 5 Million users and growing. While Coinbase and Blockchain are two of the most well-known and respected wallet in the industry.

Coin.ph, Coinbase , and Blockchain are currently running different promos that enable users to get FREE cryptocurrencies. Well, not totally free as you have to do some simple tasks to get them. For Coins.ph you have to get referrals, the same goes with Coinbase, Blockchain Wallet , on‌ ‌the‌ ‌other‌ ‌hand, is running a 25 USD reward for XLM Stellar Lumens awareness.

To drive cryptocurrency awareness and adoption Coinbase also has a program dubbed as Coinbase Earn which aims to incentivize new users to learn more about the different digital assets it has on its platform. Rewards range from $3 USD up to $25 depending on the project.

Once done it’s prudent to create proper platform wallets for ETHEREUM, EOS, TRON WAVES, Binance Chain , and IOST. A substantial amount of projects will be released on either one of these platforms daily, It is imperative that new users familiarize themselves with the aforementioned DLT projects.

There are so many wallets we can use to create these different cryptocurrency platforms in fact some has multi-blockchain support. I will discuss how to set up each platform in my future articles and will recommend wallets which I think is the best option for each platform.

Some of these blockchains require some resources to initiate and requires a certain amount of their native cryptocurrency. However, there are many ways to get them free and I will be sharing this information when I start writing about the different wallets for each of the platforms.

Loading Your Wallets

The next thing we would like to do is to put some cryptocurrencies into these wallets. There are many ways to do this. The easiest is to buy them. Coins.ph, Coinbase , and Blockchain wallets have a variety of ways to load their wallets with crypto. Most of them have fiat portals where users can use cash, money on banks or credit cards to buy cryptocurrencies.

However, what is even more interesting is the fact that many cryptocurrency projects and businesses out there are giving away cryptocurrencies for free. These are faucets, airdrops, bounties or contests which basically helps in the distribution of tokens or to spread awareness about them.

I have participated in many of these investment-free initiatives and have a fair amount of success in doing them. I got my very first bitcoin, rather a fraction of a bitcoin, in one of these faucets. Faucets are cryptocurrency centric website that uses cryptocurrency free giveaways to attract visitors to their site which usually feature different cryptocurrency advertisements.

While faucets are wonderful sites to earn free crypto, however, it is hardly worth your while to as they give very little free cryptocurrencies. You need a massive amount of active referrals to make them substantial. After some time they get bored too.

Airdrops are better, they give out a whole lot more cryptocurrencies that might become valuable over time. The main problem with this activity is the fact that you are not quite sure if the digital asset you are accumulating will have a value in the future and if they get listed on exchange right away distributions of the tokens are more likely be delayed for several weeks or even months.

Bounties are similar to airdrops giving out much higher rewards for the different task that usually involves marketing or spreading awareness about the project. Bounties are usually conducted during the start of a project or the start of a funding round. People who participate in these activities are called bounty hunters.

Bounty hunting is perhaps the most lucrative way of earning free cryptocurrencies but it is much longer to do and a lot harder to complete since you need to know the project very well to participate in most cases.The larger bounties require you to explain the technology of the project as well as its unique value proposition that could entice investors to join in the funding round.

For the benefit of the beginners, I plan to do a tutorial on how to participate in airdrops and bounties. I will share with them which social media accounts are required and perhaps demonstrate the different types of bounties.

Lastly, you can just join the fun and easy social media contests like on Twitter wherein you just need to follow, retweet, like and tag to participate.You can compare it to free lottery wherein you can win cryptocurrencies and actual items. I have won several times on this and I can say that so long as you join contests from legitimate projects or twitter marketers you will always have a chance to win something. Every now and then to inspire others to join this free opportunity I show my winnings as proof that it is indeed worthwhile to join these contests.

Other Activities in Crypto

Aside from the aforementioned activities I have shared with you, I spend a bit of my time using dApps from different DLT projects. One of these projects is Steem and its first dApps Steemit. I used to spend my time here a lot. Now I just visit every now and then to see what has been brewing in the Steem ecosystems as well as check if they release their SMT already (a tokenization feature for Steem). There are many more which I think is better said when I do individual blog-post about them.
