Refers to terms that are familiar to our ears.

"Books are a window to the world. Books are a storehouse of knowledge."

We often hear these two terms. If we interpret the two terms, then we will understand that reading activities will not be in vain. If each article is only stored in a book, then true knowledge that can enrich knowledge will not be achieved without reading and understanding it.

Many benefits we can get from reading. In this article I will review some of the benefits of reading books that you need to know. Here are some of the benefits that I get from various references:

Increase Intelligence

As written by Dr. Seuss:

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go”.

Of course, reading as many books as possible can expand and bring a lot of new learning into one's life. A person's intelligence can be improved through getting used to reading from an early age.

Researchers Anne Cunningham and Keith Stanovich stated that from year to year it is estimated that a person's quantity is influenced by early reading habits. Then the vocabulary and reading skills are influenced by high flight hours in reading.

From the above statement, we can conclude that if reading ability has begun to be built at an early age, it will increase one's overall intelligence. Because it is very important for us as parents to develop the character of the hobby of reading to children.

Improve Memory and Concentration

Referring to a research journal conducted by the American Academy of Neurology, explains that reading can hone one's memory and concentration abilities. Now, from that statement, we can understand that reading is a sport for the human brain.

Just as the body needs exercise to stay in shape, the human brain also needs exercise to maintain its function. The cognitive functions of the human brain such as memory and concentration, can be improved by routine reading. That way someone's thinking will also be more critical and sharp, besides that someone who regularly reads can see things in different perspectives. This is marked by exercising diligently.

Prevents Alzheimer's disease

Alzheimer's is a brain disease that causes loss of one's memory. In old age, decreased mental abilities tend to occur. Ironically, this disease has no cure until now, but this disease can be prevented.

Research conducted by Rush University Medical Center, a person's brain function is influenced by daily activities. This cannot be underestimated. In his research also explained that certain activities can reduce mental abilities such as Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's can be prevented by routine reading.

Instill Empathy

empathy is one's ability to explore other people's emotional states and thoughts. In another sense, empathy can be interpreted that a person also feels what is felt by others. Empathy is very good in a person, because it can build tolerance and better relationships with other people. So how do you develop empathy?

As a result of research from The New School for Social Research states that reading can help someone to understand what other people think, especially books about fiction.

Reducing Stress

Family problems, traffic jams, work pressure or other trivial problems can cause a person to stress. Stress is not good for someone. According to a research journal published by the National Academy of Sciences, explains the damage to one's emotional control can be caused by mild stress. Therefore, to calm stress that has a bad impact can be done with fun activities.

When stressed, many people choose to walk, listen to music and watch movies. But like a study conducted by researchers from the University of Sussex, explaining that just reading 6 minutes can reduce stress by 68 percent. This is because when someone reads, the imagination that arises for a moment will eliminate the problem being experienced.

As Neil Gaiman said:

“Books make great gifts because they have whole worlds inside of them”.

Thus several benefits of reading a book. The author's data can be from various studies conducted. If there are other references, you can add other references in the comments column below this post. That's all and thank you. Do not forget to be happy.
