Videography is Driving Me Crazy

Today is the last day of our autumn semester, and for the past weeks we've been studying the basics of videography. We have a very brief window to learn video, and of course as soon as this course was about to start, the school was put back into online learning again. While I don't usually mind studying independently, this video course would have been soooo much easier to get a hang on if we were all in the same room. Try being on a Teams call with the class, listen to the teacher and try to see what he is pointing to on his screen, while you yourself are switching between your own Premiere Pro view, and the Teams call. Would have needed two screens to keep up.

The actual shooting of video is quite easy to understand, but that's only a fraction of the work that goes into making a video that is ready to publish. Editing sucks. It's annoying, frustrating and so so slow. I do not like it at all. I'm gonna push through this course and then happily get back to my photography and stay on that lane. Those who like making videos, can do so on my behalf. This is not a service I will be selling. Video making does not bring me any joy.

I need to shoot some videos during the Christmas break, and finish the edit on the one I already shot, before the two last days of the video course in early January. 8 days in total via online school to learn video is definitely not enough, but what can you do. Obviously/luckily we only have to show that we can do the bare minimum in terms of video, because we are photography students, not videography.

Simple wins every time in video I think. But it is definitely time consuming. Good luck!

Keeping it simple is usually preferred on anything :) but even the simplest of things is so hard on Premiere!

I'm a videographer, Editor, and video marketer. IF you need help or want to discuss anything let me know. I started in the world of photography before switching to video so I get where you are coming from.

Well if you could just do it all for me, that would be just great 😁😅

Haha, I mean depending on the scope and what the pay is I'm open to discussing it.

" Editing sucks."

There I summarised the article in your own words :)

By the way I can't use Premier Pro. I find it way too complicated.

We have to use Premiere because I guess it’s pretty standard and we can’t follow the same tutorials if wenuse something else. But what do you use then?

I use both Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve. I used to use Final Cut Pro but I haven't had a mac in years so.
