SCAM alert... read and resteem!

Now that the markets are picking up the scammers are back as well!

(you may experience some hints of sarcasm and a touch of Irony in this post... Be Warned)

I got approached by someone on Discord called Diana that really wanted my help
Now how can I refuse the goddess of the hunt who needs help with crypto??

So since I am a true gentleman I of course sat up straight at my keyboard willing to help out a lady in distress. She had won 0.9 BTC in a roulette game and was in China and could not get past that great big firewall... (makes a lot of sense if you are a novice)

So could I get out the BTC and exchange it for fiat and sent to paypal?
And I even get 0.1 BTC in the process !!

Wow great deal.

Sure thing...
I even made an account with a fake email on the supposed exchange and it really does look convincing at a first glance.
And then the popup full of typos that wants me to send 0.02 BTC to confirm my account
Which according to the customer support (really fast service they have) was the way to prove that I was a real person (as if my typing with them asking for help wasn't proof enough) instead of doing a KYC like most exchanges do these days to really be compliant with the law.
So of course I rushed to my BTC account and sent the 0.02 BTC to confirm since customer support said so.... NOT
And nothing since then. Diana must be really rich to just send 0.5 BTC to a perfect stranger, that has been around this space for a while (that makes me so much more trustworthy), and not care anymore...

What I do not understand is that when someone who has obvious coding skills (they set up that site) spends so much time and effort to run this elaborate scheme there are 2 things that come to mind

  • there are a lot of uninformed greedy people that fall for this
  • why do they not use the skill to actually create something. I bet you can make more money that way.

If we have any of the programmers (aka hackers) here on Steem, can we take down that site? Or DDos it into oblivion?

Please resteem this to warn others!

I'm always amazed how much energy people are investing to create scams. Why not build a legitimate business instead?...

When I think about how much energy, time and resources people spend just to dupe other, I weep. I wonder how and why they cant use that their knowledge to add value to others and in turns gain value.

the thing is, in the long run they would probably make a lot more money... its a shame that some people are really that short sighted

I just assumed this was going to end up the same way. Confirmation bias or not... It was fun ;)
