Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God.
Waiting for God to help us is not easy, especially in this our present world where we have almost everything on beck and call. Now you see instant tea, telephone, and e-mail. We can do our shopping and all forms of businesses from our table. Nevertheless, in this Psalm we discover that Davis received benefits from waiting as seen in verse one of the stanza we focused on.
God lifted him up out of his despair. Similarly in Psalms 27:14, David wrote, wait on the Lord be of good courage and He shall strengthen thine heart, wait I say, on the Lord.' In order words in waiting he got to know God better. In fact in Psalm 27:13 he confirmed thus: 'I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
The truth if it be told is that in waiting on the Lord, God set his feet on firm ground. Those who seek for instant gratification and quick answers can easily be deceived. As a matter of fact such people often time fall prey to fake pastors who deceive them with frivolities like ''special anointing oil'' and the process are dubbed of their had earned money by these preachers.
As a result of foolishness in the disguise to hunger, Esua ignorantly sold his birth right as compared to Elisha who after he had prayed for rain waited until his servant saw the tiny fist of cloud that later brought abundant rain. Similarly David said he waited God to establish his going, steadied him as he walked. He got to know God better to walk confidently with Him.
Having waited, he rejoiced when his prayer was answered. We put value on what we have sought for with tears. Are you waiting on God for anything? Do not give up. Wait patiently for the appointed time and date may just be by the corner for God never fails, he would not start today to fail you. Just wait on Him.
